Great match that. Glad Mayo won it after the amount of chances they fucked away in the first half. Really think Cork would have won it though if Mayo hadn’t got that scoring burst before half-time, it changed everything. Superb finishing by Loftus for his goals, Kelleher also got a great one for Cork that Mattie McGleenan would have been proud of and that was as good a catch as you’ll see all year from him later on. All the goals were really well taken in fact.
Ennis is a terrific venue - just the right size for this sort of match and the raucous atmosphere which really came across on television. Another great year of under-21 football.

Really poor performanxe from Cork at the back. Mayo tactically won the game in hindsight. They went more defensive than any team jas in the latter stages of this where as Cork maintained a gung-ho approach. Mayo probably felt if they could reduce Corks goal threat they would win, and thats how it went.
