2016 Allianz National Hurling League

Canning was full back, close to the goals

He was well marked tonight.

he drifted out early, he had to as rushe sat back in front of him, he ended up all over the forward line trying to create something and carried the fight to them well. Caught in possession a few times but dublin crowded the forwards out very well, they were helped by the old tendency to solo into dead ends or try too many short passes. dublin were mentally right for it, galway anything but, but maybe that was over training.

Tough day at the office for Cork-They better wrap Patrick Horgan up in cotton wool.
Strip him out of Tonights scores and I think they’d only 3 scorers from play-
fairly evident Cork have slipped backwards from last year-I thought the defensive frailties would’ve been addressed by O’Sullivan/Hartnett/Ryan & Flannery- Although in fairness it’s only the second competitive game.
Unfortunately for Kingston & Co they’ve 3 v tough games ahead Dubs/Cats& Tipp.
Assumming they’re regulated straight-
Next match v Tipp championship - Looks like an up hill task for those on Leeside!

there was no width i thought, dublin managed to funnel all the play into the centre and crowd them all out. the were a few lazy poorly aimed balls to the corner, often to nobody in particular. it bore no semblance to game in croker.

That bad

O’Donoghue will be seething with that display but he won’t have had much chance to instill his game plan yet. He’s from the same school of thought as Eamonn O’Shea. A quick look at the AI club final from 2011 would give a guide his style.

You should have stayed in limerick when you had the chance @Beautiful_City

I think he gets a raw deal. There were plenty of times over the past few years where he seemed to be the only Galway player putting in a shift.

Plenty of times too though when he seemed overweight and disinterested.

Look I think his a fantastic player, but he has to play for the jersey, his teammates and the management team rather then just himself.

That’s the impression I get from him when I watch him on the big days, it’s all about Joe.

yeah i’m not running him down at all, he has to give a few of them chances and see can he fill 3 and 6, it’s a curse daithi burke wasn’t right. He’s always had teams playing attacking hurling and i’m sure he’ll have a plan. that final illustrates perfectly the difference there is in croke park and other grounds such as parnell. O Loughlin gaels were stuck to the ground when clarinbridge had the space to run at them. as waterford have yet to figure out your almost playing a different game up there. One of the main reasons kilkenny and dublin footballers are unbeatable on it is familiarity. I thought we’d get loads of games there in leinster but tullamore is our home ground.

what the fuck are you on about

Joe Canning has a massive ego and hasn’t fulfilled his obvious promise in a Galway shirt by winning an AI.

I’ve also heard from a few sources he was one of the main instigators behind Cunnighams removal as Galway manager and I don’t agree with that carry on.

Sounds like you’re basing your opinion of a man on 2nd and 3rd hand information.

That’s some load of wank you’re after spouting there. Why wouldn’t Joe have an ego, he probably the best hurler in the country, which makes him the best hurler in the universe. He’s up there with He-Man. Secondly, as good as he is, he can’t win it on his own, surrounded by tulips. Thirdly, Cunningham had enough time and proved that he had no class either with his carry-on a few months ago.

Joe doesn’t have much of an ego really.

Would take little notice of Galway tonight. Dublin are very difficult to beat in that cunt of a place, they know it better than anyone.

There is often a bounce from 1st day leagie performance and not surprised by Dublin upping their game. But it shows how much trouble Cork are in.

They essentially have given the Senior job to a lad who 2 years ago was training a club minor team, and has never coached higher. Development squad involvement is not managing a team, its all set up for them and you probably see them 6-10 times.

Absolute nonsense.

It’s my opinion mate and I’m standing by it, Canning is overrated until he plays on a Galway team that wins that AI.

For me his an egomaniac who wants to go out around the middle of the field rather then stay in at full forward were he is by far more effective for the team.

So any player who doesn’t win an All Ireland is overrated?
