Thereās no doubt that there was a feeling in Galway that they only had to turn up to win this. An incredible mistake for their team to make after what happened against Tipperary last year.
Similarly to Waterford last night, youād think that teams would have the ability to learn from previous mistakes of thinking they have games won before they are.
Galway have serious ability but they havenāt proved they have the mindset necessary. Thatās a devastating setback for them.
The A side has been thrown wide open again now.
Round 4A will be Mayo v Cork and Galway v Donegal.
Mayo now have to beat Cork and Roscommon to reach another semi-final. They should be more than capable of that.

Of course the two of them alone are not solely to blame. Our goalkeeper and full back line is rancid. Cathay Sweeney shouldnāt be next nor near a county team, but Kevin Walsh playing parish pump politics with his selection.
Midfield too slow and ponderous, Fintan OāCurrain would have been right at home in the 1980ās but simply not dynamic enough for the modern game.
The buck has to stop with Kevin Walsh at the end of the day, how he didnāt make a change in the first half is beyond belief. Some of his selections have been baffling to be honest and as I was saying he has a penchant for picking too many lads from his own beck of the woods. He appears clueless enough tactically and certainly wonāt be the man to bring Galway back to the promised land.

Always seemed to be moving anyway. Thats a sign of someone interested and leading. It may bot always be obvious because the ball doesnāt get there.

Yep, we were poxed to beat Mayo. We play with too much fear. There is still a serious lack of belief within this team.

Heās talented, no question - āwannabeā was in reference to him always trying to act the hard man, heās too keen on showing off his physicality at every opportunity, instead of focusing on the ball and doing the simple things right. I stand by what I said about him standing up when it counts. Give me a lad like Niall Finnegan any day who was totally unassuming but showed leadership when mattered.

In fairness Jimmy, I donāt think thereās one player that would make the 98-2001 starting 15, Conroy as a sub about the best bet. Comer and Walsh have the potential and are still relatively young, but from 1 to 9 we are well below the level required. The defense being an absolute shambles is the biggest problem.

Yeah, the very same thing was said to me earlier and Iād fully agree. Iām even sick of Conroy at this stage, heās long around there now and has rarely hit the heights expected of him, the sort of fella whoās loves looking great in the county jersey without actually doing great things.
Backs are there for the taking as was seen against Tipp last year and again today, whoever we face in the qualifiers will be rubbing their hands together at the thoughts of facing them. Itās galling to see that prick Bradshaw being in the team after he told the county to go fuck itself the year he was Captain.

How the fuck is Sweeney within an asses roar of that team? Two years on the trot now Walsh has facilitated them having their heads up their holes for a big game. Buck stops with him, as you rightly put it. The old adage that youāll win nothing with westies is ever true.
I do think youāre being harsh on Baysht though.

Iām probably being a bit harsh on Comer alright but youād have to question his focus at times, hopefully itāll come with experience. That was brainless shit toward the end of the game today, he started off that melee and shouldāve got a straight red for it.
Sweeney is putrid and his inclusion is a sad indictment of Kevin Walshās selection policy. Kyne must be on thin ice now too, I like him but Iām afraid heās just going to be found out too many times.
