Theyâre on the go a long time.
Would you say they could be, gassed?
Mayo have a lot of miles on the clock.
Contrast that with vastly experienced Dublin and Kerry teams.
Bernard Flynn gave an accurate critique of them. Basically said a lot of them donât have the stomach for a fight. Supposedly our best players are Shane Walsh, Conroy and Comer. First two didnât score and Conroy didnât show up, again. Only ones to come out of that with any credit were Burke, Armstrong and Bradshaw. The older lads need binning and replaced with newer lads. Flynn, Conroy, OâDonnell, Sice have consistently failed to show up on the big day. They were badly prepared both mentally and tactically. Think Walsh has done as much as he can. He seems a gent, they need someone that wonât tolerate their half arsed efforts.
Fuck Bradshaw.
Usually Iâd agree but thought he was ok yesterday.
Bernard Flynn is a fucking idiot.
He might be but he was right about Galway footballersâ performance yesterday.
Parsons is an iron clad starter when fit, but heâs struggling with a hamstring injury at the moment, it was a surprise to see him on at all really. Thatâs why Seamie was left on so long. Barry Moran badly missed for depth.
I think James Horan could do a really good job there.
Thats a fair argument, and you can put him back there. But Rosscommons half backs caused wreck going forward, especially the centre back. Maybe get them to stay back a bit would be no harm.
I agree with the considerations for Moran. Cork really missed a beat by not bringing in Donnacha Oâ Connor back on in extra time the last day.
As an aside, the All Stars this year should be (although winners and finalists will get disproportion awards anyway) almost impossible to even get close to right.
And again, like every year, people get carried away with some of the top teams performances at this stage. It is an unbelievable disadvantage for Kerry yesterday to have 5 weeks break and compounded by the fact that club games were called off. This also enhances their injury issues, and as usual they have loads. James Barry does not offer anything near Mahers ability on viewings to date, really stumped by that strategy. They could be 30% better the next day. But the bottom line is its a farce that our best footballers will have played 3 games in weeks by the time the semi final is over.
Mayo also, take out Rosscommons massive 1st 15 Mayo were significantly better for long periods. Now Rosscommon did take over again, but i think Mayo will be fresher the next day and if the weather is better should win by 5-6.
Do you reckon heâd do it and would we be able to âattractâ him to the job?
Itâs an unbelievable advantage that all Kerry have to do is beat two diddy teams to reach the last 8 year on year.
If the Turloughmore hurlers could get him, so could the Galway footballers.
Dublin donât even have that - Connacht is more often than not just a two horse race alsoâŚ
Tyrone won every game in Ulster by 8 points or more this year as well
The Keegan-Smith battle and how management utilised them was intriguing yesterday. I wasnât necessarily expecting Keegan to pick Smith up but he was able to drift off Smith, drive forward and take some brilliant scores in the first half.
A clever enough counter by Roscommon then at the start of the second half to move Smith into the full forward line as it made Mayo consider whether they wanted Keegan to continue man marking him from a much deeper position on the field and thus limit, or even lose, his ability to break forward and score.
Keegan was still marking Smith for a long enough spell at the start of the second half before Mayo switched Cafferkey onto him. It was then that Smith got more involved again and he earned a pointed free and set up a point with a beautiful pass in the last quarter.
An anomaly.
Tyrone hammered Derry, Donegal and Down.
They barely got out of second gear.
Does that take from their progression to the quarter finals this year?
Edit: I just saw @the_man_himself made the same point.
Carry on.
Theyâre in a better placed position to challenge this year as a result. A rarity in Ulster. Itâs an advantage Kerry pretty much enjoy year on year.
