That was a desperately disappointing double bill. I honestly can’t think of a match(es) I’ve regretted bothering to go to more than today. The outcome of both matches was inevitable almost from the kick-off in both.

But what’s clear after it is that Tyrone and Dublin are the two best teams in Ireland by a distance and the All-Ireland final will be played on the last Sunday in August this year - that’s a year ahead of schedule for the new championship calendar.

It’s happened a lot in recent years.

Each province was represented in 2001 which was the first year of the qualifiers but it wasn’t until 2011 that it happened again. Then every year until 2015.
