A year later we all know what they did in BelgiumâŚ
Killkennys consistency is unbelievable. COC did have one quiter day. And i would suggest already has the YPOTY.
Moran is a shoe in if he gets a goal. He is very likable and i think that matters with this shit
Used to be trouble on the Hill regularly enough in the 80s. You would see the navy uniforms move in (not a whiff of riot gear)
Yeah - fair points.
I think McCaffrey has been superb as well this year.
You obviously has the situation in the hurling last year where Gleeson won both YHOTY and HOTY.
The Hill needs to be knocked.
Ya not sure where i sit on that. Probably best leave the YPOTY to someone else if a young player wins the main one.
Whatever has come over me and the days of thoughts and chat about the weekend, and as much as i think this Dublin team are the greatest in my lifetime, iâm coming to a Mayo win conclusion.
Has the hill been gentrified by the likes of yourself, mate?
I canât see it personally.
Dublin are ruthless defensively. And while Mayo are also very good defensively, Dublin have a greater breath of quality forwards to bring off the bench when legs are tiring. Cormac Costello made a huge difference in the second match last year.
Donât be surprised either to see Dublin pull the game into the gutter.
You know the Hill was gentrified when they found cocaine there . Back in the good aul days cider and glue gave the buzz .
No. I know what the players look like.
Great days.
Real fans, real hooliganism.
And moreâs the pity that stuff like that doesnât happen anymore.
Letâs just be thankful that it did happen.
Real hooliganism
As has been said before by me, Mayoâs lack of depth is their real weakness. They got away with this against Kerry, but may not do so against Dublin. Only Durcan is a real trump card off the bench for them. Loftus blows hot and cold. Coen is a downgrade on whoever he replaces. Theyâre scrambling around for anybody after that. Conor OâShea is just about competent at best, Drake and Kirby are shit, Cafferkey and Regan are no longer trusted, and for good reason. I can see Alan Dillon being thrown into the fray yet.
Other than that, Mayo have an outstanding chance of winning this final.
You cannot overestimate how well oiled they now are after the campaign they have had. Theyâre going into this final in by far the best shape they have ever been going into a final.
Two teams have gone into All-Ireland finals having taken nine matches to get there. Mayo to me look to be in a position which is much more reminiscent of Tyrone 2005, who improved as the championship went on, rather than Meath 1991, who after getting past Dublin were always just about hanging on against teams they should have been putting away with ease.
Last weekendâs two semi-finals differed, in that Mayo made Kerry underperform, whereas Tyrone underperformed entirely of their own volition.
It was nice of Rock, OâCallaghan and Fenton to pose for a picture with that American tourist.
One of the great mysteries of the football championship is the form of Mayo at the start of the Championship versus from the quarter finals on. They are like two different teams. Lest not forget had it not been for Conor Loftusâs screamer against Derry, they would be out of the Championship in the first round of the qualifiers. This is a Derry team easily beaten by Tyrone in Ulster. The obvious explanation is that their training regime is geared to have them peaking in August/September but surely that is a very risky strategy. Only for Aidan OâSheaâs dive versus Fermanagh last year, a possible similar fate would have occurred.
I think it is more of a case that this bunch of players revel in the big matches. They won their last two league matches against Tyrone away and Donegal at home having lost to Cavan at home. While there is a lot to admire about this Mayo team, their fickleness in terms of when they perform has to be mentioned as a big drawback.
Thatâs surely John Small rather than Con OâCallaghan with the young American guy.
It is Small, another gaffe from Sid.
I bet Sids only gone and reverse ballhopped us here, the crafty wee heure.
