Is that a good team? Don’t really recognise many of the names but they did make an All-Ireland final at this grade last year, bound to be a few survivors. 1 Donovan and 3 O’Donovans; in addition to our 2, could be a record for Donovans on the pitch at one time.

Laois Under-21 Football Manager Gary Kavanagh has announced his starting 15 for tomorrow’s (Wednesday) Leinster U-21 FC clash with Offaly in Carlow

  1. Aaron Cooney (St Joseph’s)
  2. James Kelly (St Joseph’s)
  3. Shane Nerney (O’Dempsey’s)
  4. Liam Knowles (Stradbally)
  5. Patrick O’Sullivan (Portarlington)
  6. Eoin Buggie (Stradbally)
  7. Trevor Collins (Graiguecullen)
  8. Daniel O’Reilly (Graiguecullen)
  9. Danny Luttrell (Courtwood)
  10. Darragh Connolly (Ballyfin)
  11. Brian Daly (Barrowhouse)
  12. Conor Whelehan (Timahoe)
  13. Colm Murphy (Portarlington)
  14. Sean Moore (Ballyfin)
  15. Brian Byrne (Graiguecullen)

Absolutely not.
Unless there are injuries aome bizarre selections.

No Sean O’Donoghue??? The captain?
No Michael Hurley?
No Mark Buckley?
Daly and Wilson must be some players if they can keep Liam O’ Donovan off the team.

It seems a very condensed pick as well, a relatively small number of clubs represented.

Donovan and Buckley were 2 of the best Minors Cork have produced since Ciaran Sheehan/Colm O’ Neill era. It makes no sense. Ok neither are huge and they are young u21’s, but it shows a lack of willingness to promote “footballers” over athletes.

Mullins is good at 3.
Wing backs are decent.
Midfield is unknown really. Flahive seems a strange call positionally at least.
Half forward line is very good but i suspect Coakley will be inside.
2 corner forwards are pacey. Murphy is a talent but i wonder about his decision making. Sherlock is very good. Know nothing about Dineen.

It looks like, going from what i have heard about the set up and the fall outs, they are making a statement to some people.

I hope it backfires and they get the bollix bate off them. Not for the players, from what i know from other coaches involved with UCC and at Minor last 2 years they are super lads. But the management, there was a number of dual player but now only 2. There was definitely a fall out there.

This is what you are dealing with.
A guy

  • who doesn’t prepare for every team
  • thinks he is the reason lads are becoming seniors
  • talks about players not there and has underlininh cut off another management.
  • doesn’t realise one of the players mentioned doesn’t even play club football now.
  • Making excuses already

Greatest bluffer there is.

So we have the two Munster semis (Cork vs Limerick & Waterford vs Kerry) tonight as well as Offaly vs Laois in Leinster.

Also have 4 Ulster quarter-finals:

Tyrone vs Donegal
Fermanagh vs Cavan
Armagh vs Down
Monaghan vs Derry

Donegal won Ulster minors in 2014 & 2016, Derry did in 2015; Donegal-Tyrone will probably be a very interesting game.

Four BLOCKBUSTER Ulster quarter-finals in the premier underage GAA provincial championship.

This is the biggest day of the underage GAA year bar none - it even beats the day of the trial of a well known GAA journalist for child sex offences.

The loss of both Ryans can’t be underestimated. This will, sadly, be a bridge too far for Limerick tonight.

05mins 1st Half
Waterford: 0-0(0)
Kerry: 0-4(4)

EirGrid Munster U21 Football Championship Semi Final (1st half,5 min) Limerick 0-3 Cork 1-0

Michael Hurley is brought on for Cork, replacing Daniel Meaney. Not sure why he wasn’t starting, but Cork are down by 2 and have turned to him now.

7 changes to the Donegal team named to start. :grinning:

Odd cunts. Between that and the U17 carryon.

Laois 1-2
Offaly 1-3

Laois had lead 1-2 to 0-0

Declan Bonner is a wanker.

He’s from Tipp sure.

:smirk:

Laois 1-3
Offaly 1-5
