2017 GAA National Football League (AKA Kerry's stroll to yet more silverware)

Vintage Kildare

Monaghan beat Kerry.

Derry beat Kildare.

What a weekend for Ulster sides.

Only Fermanagh losing.

Good win for them .

FFS, Donegal not taking a shot at least with seconds left is just so disappointing.

Donegal looked a lot ahead of what I expected them to be.

Some of those youngsters stood up very well, in particular McGee in midfield. He’s only 18/19 so stood up very well against the likes of Fenton and MacAuley.

Always great to see a football manager speak as gaeilge before the game.

Should be an exciting conclusion to the league.

Dublin, Monaghan, Mayo and Tyrone should all be in the hunt for the top 2 spots.

Cavan and Roscommon pretty much doomed already.

That was tremendously enjoyable fare, even if there was hilariously bad refereeing for the “free” which gave Donegal the equalising score.

More GAA games need to be played in proper muck, wind and rain conditions like that.

Real football, real people.

Any penaltys lads?

+1.

That was superb stuff.

Lads over on the other thread watching Italy play rugby football instead.

That freekick against the wind by Beggan was quality.

Terrible one on one miss by Geaney there.

Excellently taken goal by Jack McCarron after the initial save by Kealy from McManus.

That’s a shocking result for Kildare in fairness.

Derry’s starting team is pretty much a junior side. There’s easily a better 15 you could pick in Derry.

Dermot McBride, the two McKaigues, Rodgers, McKinless, the two McGoldrick, Emmett Bradley, Danny Heavron, Mark Lynch, Ciaran McFaul, Niall Holly, Oisin Duffy, Kevin Johnston, Shane McGuigan and Christopher Bradley would all be in the 26 if Derry had a full contingent and none of them were available today.

Of the team that took part against Tyrone last year only

Derry: T Mallon, O Duffy, B Rogers, K McKaigue (0-01), K Johnston, C McKaigue, G McKinless, N Holly, D Heavron (0-02), S Heavron, J Kielt (0-05, 4f), C McFaul, N Toner, E McGuckin, M Lynch (0-01).

Subs: D McBride for Duffy, R Bell (0-02, 1f) for McGuckin, C O’Boyle for S Heavron, E Brown (0-01) for Lynch, C McAtamney for Holly, G O’Kane for Johnston

Only 5 of the 21 players involved in that game played today.

10-minute warning for league highlights on RTÉ 2.
