2017 GAA National Football League (AKA Kerry's stroll to yet more silverware)

Toal and McKeever? Mullockers.

Shots fired, or returned; depending on your perspective.

See the AISFC thread chief.

Search function let me down. Point of order; I would point out that we are still in the League season and the next match between them is in that context.

PS. Explained, hence lost.

Most looking forward to the Kildare Galway match tomorrow, two teams with the potential to move up another level in the next few years.

Are Kildare certs? Galway seems to be missing quite a few players, no Comer, Cummins, Lundy or Kyne named in the starting team and probably without their u21 contingent too?

This is getting crazy…kerry are fookin seething…they’ve have had a monopoly on ex players writing in the national media for years and now other county’s are doing a yerra on it they are fuckin rattled…Dubs and gavin coming in for awful scrutiny…reminds me of Harte and Tyrone in the noughties. .now what did those two groups have in common ?? Oh yeah kerry couldn’t keep the ball kicked out to them. . Funny how darragh o se can use the press to tell lads to hit connolly and its not associated with Kerry yet paul curran is a puppet for Gavin when he speaks!

Kerry don’t like a level playing field.

Kerry are the most cynical side in the country at present and get away with it fairly lightly.

Ahhhahahahaha.

What a fucking backtrack on Kildare.

So is Cian O’Neill still a total bluffer???:joy::joy::joy:

Fitzmaurice is overly obsessed with Dubs, misunderstands physical preparation and is extremely controlling. Hos North Lerry pigheadedness is a massive strength but also a huge weakness.
Superb tactical and technical appreciation for the game but Gavin has him bate up a stick.

Not a backtrack on O’Neill at all.

I have proclaimed since before O’Neill took charge that Kildare should be doing an awful lot better. O’Neill’s first year was very poor as I think he has a very talented panel at his disposal, he has underachieved so far.

Utter tosh . Dublin have better , bigger , faster , footballers than Kerry and more of them to boot. Tactics has nothing whatsoever to do with it . Kerry are overachieving with the current side TBH and that is probably down to the paucity of the rest bar Mayo .

So you haven’t a clue what you are looking for and are hedging your bets???
:joy::joy::joy:

No, I’ve consistently said over the past few years that Kildare have underachieved post McGeeney with the resources and relative underage success they’ve had of late.

I think O’Neill is a spoofer and there is little to disprove that.

They lost a Div 3 final to Clare last year, eeked past Wexford in Championship before being dumped out by Westmeath and then found themselves 10 points down against Mayo in their qualifier exit. That’s a very disappointing year for them.

Bigger???
Now there is some nonsense.

Fitzmaurice has consistently over trained Kerry for 2 years now arguably rushing players back too quick and indeed injuring them in the first place and then expecting them to perform with no meaningful football played.

Dublin are suberbly prepared and developed. Do they have a few once in a lifetime players? Ya for sure, but how they have managed to get average enough County players like Fitzsimons, Small, Bastick, MDM and others to perform is notable. They also brought good but not great players like McMahon and Cooper up a few levels. Then you had Brogan, Flynn, Connolly, Cluxton etc all highly motivated.

That doesn’t “just happen” with a few development squads and a couple of nights out.

I think, from the little bit of insight i have, that Kerry just work on the collective and are definitely not as imdividually focused and i think certain players have not evolved for that reason.
I also have a good grasp on what Kerry did, at least last year, to bridge the fitness gap to Dublin. And to say its flawed is an understatement. I think Fitzmaurice has surrounded himself alot of yes men and i think he is a little reactive in some ways (to positions, personel etc) and a little over thinking how to counter the dubs.

McGeeney left them in bits.

Its funny how twisted you will get on this over the next year or so

No, he didn’t.

He took over an average group of players and made them very competitive, all the managers since then have had a better playing hand that McGeeney and done very poorly with the squad at their disposal, O’Neill included.

Not true.

True.

O’Neill has done nothing so far.

McGeeney did a good job with Kildare. He had them consistently reaching the last 8 and were very close to making a final in 2010. They’ve won a Leinster u21 in 2013 and have won minors in 2013, 2015 and 2016 basis so O’Neill clearly has a very good basis to work from. He has been lucky enough to get Kevin Feely back after he quit his football career and has Flynn and Hurley back in the picture now as well.

McGeeney is comparison had to work off a modest group of players and the drop off in their competitiveness was notable both before and after he left. He can rightly be criticised with Armagh so far but anyone who thinks he did a bad job with Kildare is talking out of their hole.

Hurley left the panel at the start of the league.
