2017 Georgia v Ireland - Ireland v Serbia - World Cup Qualifiers

Nah, he made a comment on about 85 that we needed to keep numbers back etc, they were there for the taking.

The ball was slightly behind him. He had a choice of a very difficult volley or take a touch and then hit it and even had it been a perfect touch the Georgian defender would have been right across to him to make it very difficult.

The Serbs have this group in the bag.

It was difficult but he did get the shot off and probably should have hit the target, but it was a decent chance

It was a very good chance. Better than good but lesser than excellent.

Can we get a grading system on chances, please?

Win on Tuesday and top of of the group with two matches left.

As mediocre as we’ve been throughout this campaign that’s an ok position to be in.

The alternative way of looking at it and what is probably more likely to happen is that Wales beat Austria, Moldova and Georgia and the Irish fail to beat Serbia. Should Serbia avoid defeat in Austria, they’ll qualify by winning their final game and the Irish will need to beat Wales just to get second in the group and a probable but not guaranteed play-off.

The Irish were in a terrific position after four matches but have failed badly to capitalise on it. A win against Serbia really is a must now but I feel it’s unlikely to materialise.

In fairness when you look at a donkey like MCGeady getting 92 caps we’re squeezing the very last out of a moderate group of players.

A Welsh win is the worst possible result tonight, the draw or an Austrian win will be positive.

Here’s the manager interview…

Absolutely.

Welsh win is the worst outcome. Could do with them having nothing to play for in the last game.

A Welsh win and we’re in a fight to get second, never mind think about automatic qualification.

Martin looks a bit shook .

Go on Martin, give this prick Tony O’Donoghue loads of it here.

O’Neill’s being really testy and sarcastic here.

Martin O’Neill’s interview was like this.

The point is. This is the point. The point is this. That’s the point.

O’Neill acted the bollix there. It wasn’t far off Nigel Pearson proportions.

Big call for John Delaney.

Bring Noel King or Brendan Rodgers in before Tuesday night.

Globalisation of the game and more particularly the English football academies means the conveyor belt of talent making a breakthrough at top level English football to extent it existed is now gone.

Team of journeymen pros.

Maybe FAI and Mr Delaney can look at some way to develop talent here. He could speak to GAA about the Dublin football experience.
