2017 O’Byrne Cup, Walsh Cup, and other lesser Provincial Competitions Thread

Massive fanfare as the Walsh Cup threw in last night in Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow, with the 2016 Champions Dublin emerging victorious, despite having that tramp Liam Rushe sent off again.

Tipperary man Peter Creedon has named his Laois team for Sundays massive season opener. Quite experimental look to it, but given we have no one else for the full back line, its not hard to see 2 of that 3 start championship.

Think James Kelly is a younger brother of Tom, Stephen and Colm who all kicked over the past 10 years or so. I also believe Eoin George is a younger brother of Ballymun and (former?) Dublin senior (and Laois underage) full back Sean George.

  1. Graham Brody (Portlaoise)
  2. James Kelly (St Joseph’s)
  3. Denis Booth (The Heath)
  4. Eoin George (Mountmellick)
  5. Stephen Attride (Killeshin)
  6. Alan Farrell (Ballylinan)
  7. Colm Begley (Stradbally)
  8. Kevin Meaney (Arles-Kilcruise)
  9. James Finn (Ballyfin)
  10. Cormac Murphy (Crettyard)
  11. Ambrose Doran (Graiguecullen)
  12. Seán Ramsbottom (Timahoe)
  13. Donal Kingston (Arles-Killeen)
  14. Brian Daly (Barrowhouse)
  15. Niall Donoher (Courtwood)

They need to make the fanfare a bit bigger for the likes of yourself. Match was in Parnell Park.

Very harsh on Liam Rushe too.

And to think there was fellas getting their knickers in a knot here when Maurice Shanahan subjected this tramp to a bit of well deserved goading.

Ooooffft

Clare won’t win much here.we need to blood players

Mossy stitched him up right good that day.

No wonder they won so.

If Eoin is any good we will take him. He will obviously need to prove himself with Laois first.

The fact that you haven’t taken him yet would suggest he’s not.

An absolute shambles of thread. Some serious bluffing from MBB.

I take my bluffing very seriously.

Dublin captain Liam Rushe and Carlow skipper Jack Kavanagh were both shown straight red cards on the hour mark and will miss their sides’ respective second-round games against UCD and Wexford next week.

Jack Kavanagh, now there’s a fella who doesn’t spare it TBF. He was sent off against Laois back in 2012 for an absolutely flaking stroke in a row. Rushe most likely got his fill of it.

Even I knew the match was in Parnell Park. Sure wasn’t the Carlow team bus stuck on the M50 for ages and the throw in was delayed.

I realise you expect a certain level of perfection from me, but even our heroes can disappoint sometimes. Its a good lesson for you, so early in the year and all.

He did the same to Rushe last night and Rushe retaliated with some interest added.

Quit the bluffing pal.

We have standards around here. When you start a thread and get something as basic as the match venue wrong you are going to be ridiculed.

Up your game.

Jaysus you didn’t go all the way to Carlow to watch that last night did you?

Peter Creedon is a Cork man.
