Well we know his Mrs can anyway. Sure didn’t she nearly kill some old lady in cork, and then baulked at helping out with her medical expenses.

And we wonder why she went to Southill for a man

She doesn’t know what a man is.

True enough. Off to bed with a book and a mug of tea the night she got engaged sure and the lad below after breaking the hoover again or something

Ewan after throwing the leg out over the trace this evening about RTE showing the women’s 6N! He has Ryle Nugent seething. Ryle did tell us an average of 166k people watched the ladies last Friday night with a peak of 300k. I think the LOI games were averaging about 60k when they were shown.

Fucking unreal if the women are getting those numbers. And there was a Munster game on at the same time on both TG4 and Sky competing with it.

How many do the LOI games get on RTE? Did a quick search and only article I saw said average of about 60k

How many FAI soccer internationals went to fee paying secondary schools ??

Did you mean went to secondary school?

Your figures are incorrect

Anybody? 166k average is excellent

That is a very good viewing figure for them but one game proves nothing mate. We’ll see how many viewers they have for their final game

Agreed. If they had 60k viewers I’d have been pleasantly surprised tbh.

I’m still curious as to the LOI viewing figures though. The silence is deafening

Nugent is clearly abusing his position here by showing the women’s rugby.

I’m surprised more of an issue hasn’t been made of it.

I accept rugby is above criticism from the media but didn’t think it would stretch this far tbh.

It’s not as if RTE have anything else to show.

Women’s rugby is the ultimate minority sport. Shur there was an interview with one of them last week. Took it up in college and now a full international. It’s similar to ladies boxing. Not politically correct to say it but that’s the way it is. Doesn’t take a lot to get to the “top” but showing the womens six nations matches is another sop to the PC brigade.

Who is head of sport on RTE? Who is the main rugby football commentator on the national broadcaster? Not hard to work out why there is a pro rugby agenda in Montrose.

I’ve no problem with women’s sport being shown but - I’d guess - that participation rates in ladies soccer and Gaelic football/camogie are many, many times that of the rugby. Who does RTE not carry live coverage of the women’s football teams qualifiers? Likewise I think they only show the camogie and ladies footballs final live. TG4 have the rest. Now I have zero interest in watching any of it but if RTE are serious about promoting equality and women’s sport they’d be showing those events which are played by the most.

On Six Nations weekends you’ve the u-20’s, the women’s and the men’s national team plus two other senior men’s teams matches that have nothing to do with Ireland. A review programme on Monday night. Saturation coverage of a minority sport.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the country (and the world) but the national broadcaster doesn’t even cover Ireland’s u-21’s men’s competitive qualifiers. Instead they plough resources into women’s six nations matches - with match attendances of the low hundreds.

And Ryle Nugent denies there is a rugby football bias!

Is it? 166k average viewers last week. Throw up the LOI figures for the Friday night slot there please when your ready. In particular find the figures for a night a hugely popular side were playing a league game on free to air in direct competition with the LOI game.

I look forward to hearing from you

P.s. Ryle also explained clearly why they show the U20s but you’ve picked and chosen your facts again.
