Love how much attention rugby gets on TFK. Self proclaimed GAA here and anti rugby campaigner dodgy keeper ranting on at length about women’s rugby at 7.30 am on a Friday morning.
Also, using TV figures as a source of a sports popularity is a bit naieve. Mrs Mac was flicking through the channels last Friday and turned it on and spent 10 mins remarking how fat some of the Irish women were and that they couldn’t be considered sports women.
Just because the telly is on in the corner of the room doesn’t mean people were watching it. And if they were watching it, it was probably for the comedy value.
Why would you want to compare figures for club games to international matches? The only credible comparison would be viewing figures for Irish Women’s Soccer vs Irish Women’s Rugby, but we’ll never know that because of RTE’s institutional bias.
