Based on what. Some league games. Itās more or less the exact same squad as previous years minus a few of the experienced players.
McCarron has made a huge impact. Karl OāConnell is now one of the leading players in the country.
They have more variety to their play. McManus is now not the only man to watch.
If they could sort out just that little bit of sillyness Wylie and a couple of them still have iād put them no 3 team in the country.
This year will see a big shuffle in how we all view the teams. Dublin still have to be favs but i suspect they will be alot closer to defeat more often and challenged earlier in season.
Galway, Monaghan, Meath and Kildare will all move up the rankings.
Tyrone will drop. They have added nothing and still rely incredibly heavily on 4-5 older players.
And its not that these lads couldnāt get a jolt themselves had Canavan or someone come in. But hartes reliance and emphasis on some players may well be stunting the development of new lads.
Its very common for young good players to come into a squad with a legend manager and wonder quickly what all the fuss was about. I get the feeling that in many levels Harte is way too far removed from these young players who definitely have some ability. I think it was disgracefully arrogant and selfish of him to stay on in recent years. He ended any chance the likes of McMahon or Cavanagh had of winning again and seriously stunted the developme t of the team.
Compared to say Gallagher who let a few lads go but kept a few old stagers and seems to be building a reasonable transition of Donegal. I think he learned from Brian Cutbert that the culling of big numbers of old lads (when successful) is not the way to go.
I have absolutely no doubt youāll be doing a load of hemming and hawing when Tyrone beat Donegal and Monaghan in Ulster this year, as they have done in their last Championship matches with both sides.
You will decide to flip and flop when itās patently wrong Tyrone are currently a better team than both, albeit there is not much between their sides. Monaghan are just too reliant on McManus, they have big problems in midfield and Wylie is very suspect under the high ball - just look at the pandemonium Cavan caused when they lobbed a few in their late on last week.
So Iām asking you, that if you truly believe Monaghan and Donegal are that much better than Tyrone, put something behind your bluster. Will you resign from the forum if Tyrone beat Monaghan and Donegal this year? Or is it that you actually donāt believe what you type? Itās just driven from bitterness and jealousy.
On an aside, Jim McGuinness has been really bigging Tyrone up recently and reckons they are the best coached team in the country.
This part in particular is hilarious in particular. There are 2 players over the age of 30 on the Tyrone team, in fact only 5 of the panel are over the age of 27 - 2x Cavanaghs, Justy, McCarron, McCrory.
In contrast Monaghan are likely to have the following starters - Wylie 29, McAdam 29, McManus 29, OāConnell 29, D Hughes 30, Doogan 30, O Duffy, Corey 34. Itās also been showing if you shut McManus down then you stop Monaghan.
The whole basis for your hyping of Monaghan this year seems to be Jack McCarron having a good league campaign. Heās been on the Monaghan panel for a while now and has talent but he has done nothing at Championship level, in fact, he has been very subdued so far in both his outings, managing just 1 point from player over the two games against Fermanagh and Cavan.
So only 1 player over 30?
If Donegal bsat Tyrone sunday with the young aide they have its all over. Mostly because their own will turn on them full tilt.
And yes the league is a barometer. Not the only one but certainly a growing one. I see nothing new from Tyrone or Mayo whereas loads of other sides, Monagh included have changed it up.
Wgats funny is if we were comparing Monaghan to anyone outside Ukster you would be using all my points.
You are a lunatic. Mostly because you belueve people donāt see through you.
You bottled the bet already. Hard currency bet.
I wonāt resign from anything.
- Cos iām not employed by thefreekick (despite the offers)
- Cos iām not 15
Why is it over for Tyrone?
Monaghan got knocked out by Longford last year. What does that say?
Players over 30 - Gollogly and Mone are two others.
Donegal are a better side than last year and Tyrone scraped past them in the final. You might think Tyrone have brought nothing new from last year but Dublin are the barometer and last year there was nothing really between the top sides.
Mayo edged Tyrone out and Dublin edged Kerry and Mayo out, all games decided on tight margins as was the Donegal game. You like to create huge gaps and create massive chasms on the basis of a shot sailing narrowly wide.
You might say Tyrone are no better than last year but Iād strongly disagree, McAliskey is certainly a loss but I think there are positive signs. Hampsey should strenghten the full back line, McClure looks like he be a very good option in midfield and I have extremely high hopes for David Mulgew.
The big worry would be Mattie Donnellyās form but heās capable of turning it around.
I donāt think you have any conviction in what you are saying about Donegal and Monaghan being well ahead of Tyrone, it has all the hallmarks of the rantings of a blowhard.
Will Donegal beat Tyrone on Sunday?
Thatās the thing with draws mate. Teams donāt tend to win draws
They will.
The qualifiers wonāt be nice for either though were that the route, for polar opposite reasons.
So if Tyrone beat Donegal, particularly if itās convincing, then youāre clueless at reading the game?
Nope. I will have got 1 game wrong.
Again.
Thatās the point. In straight knockout, draws count for nothing. Crappy Boy seems to view draws as some sort of victory.
I pointed out the absolute fact that a draw is always better than any kind of a loss.
Not true
Haha. You are too stupid for words.
You are membo as well are you not?
Huh
When Manchester City won the league in 2012 a draw in the final game against QPR would have been no better for them than a loss.
Similarly Blackburn lost the final game of the 1994/95 season at Liverpool - a draw that day would have been no better for them.
You stupid cunt
Iāve made two excellent points rebutting @croppy_boyās stupid one.
You canāt rebut them.
Because theyāre unrebuttable.
Thatās a different sport mate. Give some examples in gaelic football
