34,000 people @ ā¬30 a head would be a ā¬1m quid before pints food etc. Iād be surprised if it cost a fraction of that to open it.
Playing these games in Croke Park just gets the backs of the local residents up too. There are enough matches and concerts and conferences on there throughout the year.
I doubt there was a single Kildare/Mayo/Cavan/Tyrone fan this morning screaming down the radio looking for them to be played in Dublin when the draw unfolded.

Croke Park is up the road for Kildare, they play there regularly enough and is a home away from home, it a fair longer journey from Mayo. The GAA would be criticised for depriving fans of a chance to attend the game if they didnāt do something and cobbled together a double header in Croke Park, that doesnāt do Kildare a huge inconvenience and allows more Kildare and Mayo fans get to the game.
Also, can someone address the point as to how the fuck Kildare a rich county has such a shit hole of a county ground, and also why they didnāt nominate an alternative venue themselves to their liking.

Bernard Flynn on RTE Radio this evening, saying the provincial finals are dead and must go as they are too one sided, then proceeds that maybe 8 groups of 4 are the way to go. eh Bernard, sure you wont get one sided games there?! says a 2nd tier championship needed and then says it didnāt work the last time.
