2018 All Ireland Senior Football Championship

Walsh blows hot and cold. Meyler gets through an absolute dog of work, heā€™s the new Brian Dooher.

Is that why harte changed the dimensions of Omagh?

Not for a long time.

Walsh is clutch. For now there is not much comparison.

Thatā€™s not to slight Myler who is as you say hugely effective. But not team of the year standard.

I donā€™t know, heā€™s a talented player but yesterday was an example of the type of ineffective peformances that he delivers, he was subdued against Kildare as well. For the most part heā€™s had a great Championship but heā€™s gone a bit off the boil.

It really depends on the big games, for instance Sludden was easily Tyroneā€™s best player before the last two matches but heā€™s had fairly quiet outings. Meyler for me is vital to Tyrone.

CK has been very average this year

Ah ya, critical I would say. But still not team of the year.
Cork would never have won in 10 without Kavanagh or pierce O Neill. Yet neither were superstars.
He is a very good footballer though

I think heā€™s been a lot better than he was last year when he was ridiculously written up as a potential Footballer of the Year but didnā€™t even get an All-Star after being annihilated by Lee Keegan in the final.

There has been a backlash against his style which has gone too far.

Iā€™d never have him in contention for FOTY, but he controls games in the way nobody else in the game does.

If you disrupt Kilkenny, youā€™ve a chance of beating Dublin. Let him do what he does and you can forget it.

I actually agree with most of that. Now the stats may bear me fool but he just looks off for me.

Maybe itā€™s the movement or support play, but I think k the thing that is slightly concerning for duBā€™s is several key players nowhere near best

Oh ya, no Connolly either

Ck was in leading contention for footballer of the year as Gavin was using him inside a lot more and he was racking up scores. Since the Leinster semi he has been pulled back out and the keep ball tactics which he directs, is pissing people off big time. If Mansy racks up at least 4 or 5 from play in semi, itā€™s his to lose regardless of anyoneā€™s All Ireland final performances.

McManus has had more quiet games than good ones this summer. Rory Beggan has had a bigger impact on Monaghans season and is doing things not seen before on a football field, Iā€™d have him favourite for the POTY at the minute. However as Monaghan will probably be beaten by Tyrone then neither player are likely to get it.

Iā€™d struggle to put McManus in Monaghanā€™s top 3 this year, from the games Iā€™ve watched.

Anyway, Meyler to be fresh as a daisy and Tyrone by 3. Huge mental advantage lying with them.

Heā€™s came good when he needed to, he was quiet for the most part against Tyrone but came big at the end and hit a few huge scores to get Monaghan over the line. Immense against Kerry, hit a crucial score at the against Kildare and hit a few great ones against Galway yesterday.

If Cluxton never got it, then neither will Beggan.

Itā€™s voted for by players, and players are not inclined to vote for joyless Dubs (MDMA being the exception). Beggan hitting frees from 60 metres will be remembered come voting time if he is in the shortlist.

There is no stand out this year. But 2 great game by anyone now will win it

I fancy James McCarthy who has been very good but is a big day man

Would Donie Buckley end up involved with Kerry next year?

That seems to be the universal hope

A well placed Kerry lady told me tonight that discussions were had with EF after Cian O Neill and EF pulled out abruptly

Ciaran Kilkenny is a Dublin player. You were bizarrely talking there about Ciaran Kilkenny playing against Dublin. You havenā€™t a clue.

I think this was settled today.
