Celtic trials up in gormanston

I think Mayo will win on Sunday. That Galway team looks to be carrying a few players and others are complete novices at Championship level. If Rochford isn’t stupid enough to leave Cafferkey on Comer then Mayo should win.

I noticed that Galway are continuing to notch up big wins in underage, they’ve dominated minor level in Connacht over the past three years and look set to pick up 4 in a row. It’s going to happen very shortly where Galway take over as the no 1 Connacht side but for me there are too many names in that Galway side I wouldn’t trust to deliver at present.

On a direct line (cc @anon32894817 and @Sidney) through Roscommon under 17s, this week’s results have shown the gap between Galway and Mayo to be wider than ever.

Donegal are going in very much under the radar this year. Bar the heavy defeat to Tyrone, they were unlucky in nearly all the other games they lost in the league.

If they can sort the midfield issue and get the balance in defence right they can certainly feature prominently in the Super 8s.

They simply have to stop flogging Michael Murphy as a workhorse out in the middle of the pitch though. They have the scoring power in McBrearty, Brennan, Murphy and NacNiallais, they have added depth.

I’d say Donegal are great odds at 3/1 for Ulster. They’re almost dead certs for the final and will go there with little hype and they’re a big physical side with pace. If they sort out midfield and get the balance right in defence then they are a force to be reckoned with.

Jamie Brennan could be one of the stars of the summer.

I think Galway will bate the tar out of Mayo. Mayo’s aged squad only get going later in the year and will have to keep a bit for Super 8s. They’ve a few key players coming back in late like Higgins and COC and have also added nothing to the forward line. Galway looked very forward in the league and have fine tuned their counter attacking play this year. They should still be bouncing and can take good heart from performance v Dublin in the final. I would worry about them later in the year but for tomorrow I can see them going to town and beating Mayo by at least 3 or 4. Make that 7 or 8 if Cafferkey starts on Baysht.

Fair enough, who do you think they are carrying? Not disagreeing with you just interested to get an outsiders opinion

I too expect Galway to win.

By 3 points.

I think the likes of Kyne, Sweeney, Bradshaw, Armstrong and O’Donnell are not goo enough and you’ll see these lads phased out of the side in the years to come.

They have lots of really talented young players to come into what is already a very young side in the years to come but that team named for Galway looks like it’s lacking a few areas.

I’d also question the likes of Conroy and Walsh and how reliable they are for Galway, they are two players who Galway will need to perform but they often seem to let games pass them by. I think it will be a different Mayo tomorrow who will start out like it’s a knockout game at Croke Park and we’ll get some answers about Galway tomorrow on where they’re at.

Mayo’s problem for me is that they will need to start strong this year and I don’t know if they have it in them any longer to keep this up for another 3/4 months.

In fairness to cicero, much like Nembo before him, he is very well informed and informative on football, once you take his gross bias towards anything north of cavan into account, and Tyrone still further.

Ah if they get over tomorrow, they can take a pull until the Super 8s

Yup.

It’s a big game for them, I think they will struggle if they have to go the qualifier route again. They’ve had too many scares in the past two years.

Tomorrow is the litmus test. Im no real fan of Sweeney and o donnell, middle of the road intercounty players, bradshaw could have been unreal, but best days behind him. If you are to believe people army is having an Indian summer but to be proven. Will you travel

He also has an irrational dislike for unicef ambassador and all round good guy Joseph Canning. But an excellent football commentator.

I won’t, mate.

I have a site bought from The Border Bull and I’m attending to a future development back home most weekends.
