2019 Ulster Senior Football Championship

Big Pat Haveron fairly slam dunked that to the net

Newry a long ball lover’s paradise today

Red card me hole

Extremely harsh

Armagh or Cavan will contest an Ulster final this year.

It’s 2008 since Armagh last contested one, they have a terrific recent record in Ulster finals however - winning all their last 7 finals (2008, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2002, 2000, 1999).

Cavan have to go back to 2001 when they last contested one.

RIan o Neill
Stefan Campbell
Jamie Clarke

You’ve marquee forwards there and they were exciting when I saw them in a real decent game in the league in navan.
There is a powerhouse of a man in midfield as well…
How did your man Jamal Hall do? Good man to run with a ball…I really should have went up to newry today but she took me to ikea where we left shy of 700 quid

Speaking of mathes we had a wonderful family day out in the sun in navan at meath and offaly last week. Kids on for free . 20 quid each for adult tickets and we got a grand seat on the 45 . She made up a picnic even. Kids on the pitch at HT and all with a ball. .

A glorious family occasion

Murnin is a class act too and will panic any defence if he’s delivered good ball, Grugan is also a very classy player. Niall Grimley was missing today and he’s another big player who is a heavy scorer, from what I’ve heard Oisin O’Neill has left the squad which is a loss as he’s a good option from the bench. Clarke hasn’t really caught fire since he has returned but I’d imagine he’ll step it up as the summer progresses.

Jarly Og Burns and McKiernan should be a cracking battle in the middle of the pitch in the semi final.

Armagh’s problems stem from the back, they’re very rash in the tackle and concede a lot of needless frees, they don’t seem to be able to handle teams running at them as they seem to lack a bit of mobility and pace in the middle third.

It’s going to be an intriguing semi final, Cavan will go as favourites as they look a more balanced, more mobile and better coached team but Armagh have the firepower to run up a big score if they hit form. On the basis of form, Armagh struggled past a very average Down side who were down to 14 for the whole of the second half and Cavan convincingly disposed of last year’s All Ireland semi finalists but it’s important not to read too much into that. Monaghan look like a team low in confidence and on their last legs while Armagh had a huge amount of pressure on them today given they had not won an Ulster Championship match under McGeeney prior to the game.

I think the favourites tag will weigh down on Cavan and Armagh will play with more freedom - should be a cracker.

You’re right in that Armagh do have serious firepower

Rian O’Neill is the real deal - he looks like the prototype Hitler youth specimen

Some kicker of a ball - Diarmuid Connolly-esque - he came out around the middle for a lot of the match - he reminds me a bit of Anthony Tohill but a much more natural forward

Campbell got two great points when he came on as a sub

Murnin was the matchwinner - it’s hard to believe he was only introduced at half-time in extra-time (I think he was anyway)

Clarke was a bit off form today but still a constant danger

Hall is a link man

Does a lot of good running but that’s all he’s there to do really

I think Armagh will come on a lot after that match and I expect them to beat Cavan

Jamie Clarke isn’t playing for Crossmaglen this year apparently. Very strange character

He’s under no obligation to

You don’t see Alun Wyn Jones playing much for Bonymaen these days

Clarke appears no closer to finding himself now as he was 5 years ago.

O’Neill is the ultimate player football wise but is a complete header and has caused some serious riots in games in his brief career to date.

Terrible comparison. Also he is under a bit of an obligation as if Crossmaglen deregistered him he wouldn’t be allowed play for Armagh

Definitely the new Diarmuid Connolly.

Cavanagh comes in for the injured Brian Kennedy.

Rory Brennan replaces Michael McKernan from the named team.

McClure, McLaughlin and Grugan come into the squad in place of Kennedy (injured), Lee Brennan (dropped) and Meyler (presumably injured as he was named to start in the Derry game but didn’t feature).

Harsh enough black card for McDonnell.

Good to see Grugan getting a run out.

What a goal from Tee!!!

Champagne football.

Richie Donnelly is having a great season.

Tyrone 14 up at HT. Playing some nice football but it’s only Antrim.

10 different scorers in the first half.

If cross did deregister Clarke he’d probably just move to some club in Dublin.

Coney, McAliskey and McCurry for Donnelly, Harte and McShane.
