2020 All Ireland Senior Football Championship.Blame the dubs

And their core players are getting better. Brian Fenton is off the charts at the moment.

It’s always been within their reach. Fermanagh when at their best had the capability of reaching the levels of the top teams the 00s. They’ve shown in the past few years they can cause those problems, only for Aidan O’Shea being a cheating bastard they would have dumped Mayo out on their arse 4 or 5 years back. They’ve beaten Monaghan who have been one of the top 5/6 teams this decade. They are capable, they consistently punch above their weight and without a Dublin a county like Fermanagh could dream.

It’s not hysteria, it’s about Dublin absolutely hockeying teams.

You look at the likes of Kerry, Tyrone, Donegal, Mayo, Monaghan, Galway etc - they all have had their embarrassments or scares in the past decade.

Mayo very nearly lost to Fermanagh and Derry and Cork in those years, were beaten by Kildare.
Tyrone were twice ran close by Meath. Donegal were hockeyed by Galway, Monaghan were beaten by Fermanagh and Longford, Galway beaten by Tipp.

Dublin just slaughter every team bar two or three who they either beat at arms length or push over the line when a little underpar.

Dublin were down to 14 men for the majority of the game and Kerry looked spent with 15 minutes left.

Dublin won the replay routinely. Kerry are meant to be the second best team in the country. The gap is only widening, they smashed Mayo by 9 points in the semi.

Wexford won a 4 in a row in football themselves in the past.

maybe if the GGA made itself attractive the unionist community teams would get stronger?

Everyone who closely follows football accepts this.

If you look back at the 00s.

The three top teams by some way were Tyrone, Kerry and Armagh.

Tyrone were beaten by the likes of Derry, Laois, Meath, Mayo, Down in that time, think they had a draw with Cavan, were ran very close by the likes if Westmeath and a few others.

Kerry didn’t have too many backdoor runs but when they did they had a few scares along the way, Antrim caused them bother, Monaghan should have beaten them, Sligo were a missed penalty away from knocking them out. Down also put them out another year.

Armagh were dumped out of the Championship by the likes of Fermanagh and Wexford among others.

As good as those teams were, they were always liable to be caught on the hop by another team. The competition was healthy, it was enjoyable. You went to games never taking anything for granted. Outside of Dublin, you can still see that. Look at Mayo and all the scares they had in the past 10 years.

The GAA pumped money after money after money into Dublin and created a monster.

Poor Pat is freezing.

Looks wild unhealthy of late.

Other teams can have good cycles, Louth had a good team and decent manager and in reality won Leinster ten years ago, they won’t always be at that level but the possibility was there for them or Westmeath laois Offaly any of them to not just have a moral victory but win the province.

That’s dead now forever. Dublin should have been dominant anyway the gaa lucked out that they weren’t but in the last 20 years the county with all the advantages amazingly convinced the gaa that they needed help. They are at fault in that they went looking for funding and got it. The 5 million ahern gave them alone, that’s tax payers money. Aside from gaa funding they enjoy ridiculous levels of sponsorship. The best backroom team of any sports team in the country.

Ask yourself this, how often have they missed players due to illness or injury in key games over the past ten years compared to others. That’s the level.of preparation.

A combination of money, numbers (ie pick of best athletes) advantages (all home games, small area, no one has to travel) and proper organisation. Have a look at the dublin cumann na mbunscoil committee from 18/19, anything stand out? How many dubs who tell others to pull their socks up actually are involved in that themselves at key stages. They are a national project competing against tiny counties.
