2020 All Ireland Senior Football Championship.Blame the dubs

Scrap the provincial championships and have four divisions of eight. Each division would be split in two groups of four. Everybody plays each other twice home and away giving you a minimum of six games. The Top team in each group would get A home semi final playing the second in the other group.

No club team celebrates winning a junior title less than say a senior title.

It would also give teams a chance of say taking a scalp to stay up and avoid relegation. Some great scenes in all sports when their clubs avoid relegation.

You’d have 16 games on a weekend of teams at a similar level which would be great.

The only people that will object is the northern counties as they’ll be badly found out. There is no reason cork, Kerry, Galway, mayo, Kildare and the likes cant compete with Dublin. If they split Dublin in two they’ll finish the game.

Mickey Harte and Joe Kernan.

Meath could merge with Louth and be renamed Mouth. It’s all their good for these days.

Imagine the Friday of the bank June bank holiday and the dubs are coming down to Killarney for a must win game. Landing into farranfore airport and the blue brigade walking alongside the ream bus in to Killarney. It would be great.

My understanding is players are against it.

Dublin will win by 12 or so

The players shouldn’t get to decide imo. It’s so obvious and it would be so great.

Mayo are going to do it.

No they won’t. Not a prayer.

If you genuinely think they will you can make a fortune

Ah they should. Without buy in from players it wont take off.

I’ve mayo backed at 13/2 Each way and a few bob made by them reaching the final.

They would in time. It would be brilliant you could split the gate receipts evenly among the 32 counties which would favour the weaker counties too.

Having 3 games in a town over a summer would be huge for local economies. They can build little festivals around them make a weekend out of it even.

Serious praise here from Roy.

U20 final as the curtain raiser, another Connacht county taking on the Dubs in that. By my reckoning, between Senior, U20, Minor and Senior Club, of the last 40 finalists 4 have been from Ulster and all 4 have been beaten. The game has been left behind entirely up here.
The one bright spot is that Kilcoo would probably have won the club All-Ireland had it gone ahead this year, and will be among the favourites next year if they make it out of Down. Yet again it will be to Down that Ulster looks when trying to revive the fortunes of the province.

Could split it into Senior, Intermediate and Junior like the ladies football but the problem is that there’s very little between teams 7-20 and the likes of Longford are well capable of turning over a Monaghan. You’d end up with a split of 8 in senior, 16 in Intermediate and 8 in Junior maybe?

I think four divisions is ideal. Call them what you want. It would be brilliant. You’d get so many great games every weekend. You could have say division 1 and 3 play Saturday and Sunday. The following weekend division 2 and 4 would play.

If that mark o Connor was home from oz for Kerry last year they’d have won the all Ireland. They still left it behind them. Even if David Moran had 70 minutes in him they’d probably have won.

Moran is a bombscare in the last 10 mins
