That’s outrageous.
The footballers had won an all Ireland in 95 and got to semi finals regularly after. Again you are too stupid to be dealing with.
Shush …we’re all wrong .he’s right .
It’s financial doping.
We’re too stupid to be dealing with, while he can’t deal with it
But the population was always there, it’s just an amazing co incidence that when the money flowed in, they started to practice?
No, no prove me wrong. You said Dublin were streets ahead at basic skills, I’m wondering why do you think that is? You e refused to answer for a few posts now. But it was your assertion, back it up
The money was used to develop participation. They put structures in place and a coaching curriculum to develop kids and keep them playing.
Coaching is mainly by volunteers. It has to be given numbers of kids playing.
A lot of effort goes into coaching kids. Their chances of playing for Dublin are absolutely tiny. It’s not elitist the way schoolboy football is and every kid regardless of ability gets a game and a team.
Maybe you should be directing all this rage and anger in a more positive manner, rather than just lashing out at Dublin. Some volunteer type on the ground type work in Galway. Contribute in a small way to help the revival of the third most successful football county and the biggest underachievers of the past 20 years.
But hang on, you said the success was only to do with funding.
Why are previous wins being taken in to account?
If the argument is the funding had such an impact from 2007 on why arent Dublin winning All Irelands and beating teams by 20 points in hurling
Ah yes, won’t someone think of the childeren.
Do other counties not have to organise underage players, and pay for it…but now (and I’m being generous believing that’s all the money was used for, it wasn’t) Dublin now all of a sudden are freed from having to fund raise and finance the underage game. I wonder where all that freed money, which other counties don’t enjoy, went to?
If you can’t argue my points pipe down. Galway has no relevance to dublins funded success.
Funding helped but culture and dedication to excellence are big factors in that group.Gavin created a serious machine. Cluxton is the main driver ,be interesting to see when he goes.
You’ve no real clear thoughts on this…you’re down to abusing the players for charity work .you’ve a proper hatred of them. It’s quite sad to be so invested in it
I already explained it but you are too stupid to understand. Remember a few posts ago, you thought I had entirely made up the funding disparity. That’s what you believed. That’s your level of intelligence. You are not worth replying to.
Athletics Ireland run weekly online coaching seminars to develop coaches. All volunteers.
Counties could do that. They don’t.
Show me where I said the numbers were made up.
You’re too clever for your own good.
You’re wasted on here. Did you ever think about becoming a failed journalist?
Dublin could do that, but they asked for, and received millions. Why did they ask for so much and to be treated as a province if they have the nest volunteers and culture in the country?
The style of football Galway u21s won with in 2002 & 2005 was completely outdated for senior due to the changes brought about around that time. Galway and Down were still focused on producing footballers when the game decided it was athletes that were needed.
The score in the 2005 final was Galway 6-5 Down 4-6, with the game won by Armstrong and Meehan in the full forward line. However the defensive nonsense that has been a feature of senior football since 2003 meant that was never going to translate, and Meehans career was terribly affected by injury.
The 2013 champions were much more of the modern style and it is them lads that are the backbone of the current Galway team. The terrible injury troubles of Damian Comer in recent years has reduced the progress they have made, when you are picking from smaller numbers injuries inevitably have a much bigger impact.
You have no clear thoughts, you completely hamstrung yourself and can’t figure a way out. You said skills were basic, but can’t explain why Dublin are ‘streets ahead’ before grudgingly accepting now that funding plays a part. There’s lots of factors, as I said yesterday gavins professional level of preparation was a huge one. But if you put gavin in any other county, yes he’ll improve them, but without the resources, back room team etc that the money allows, they won’t dominate to the extent Dublin do.
To increase participation levels as they were falling and rugby and football taking over and Dublin is a huge market for the GAA.
