A savage pass but spot on. Unfortunately this is the highlight pass of the weekend.
Do you need to claim the midfield mark, the same as the inside mark? I’ve seen refs interpret it differently with many sticking the the original system for marking a kick out
Interestingly he gave a mark to a tipp man late on that he was looking to play on from which caused a bit of confusion. Derrick in this instance would be better to be querying the amount of needless turnovers we gave to tipp.
Sligo possibly giving Galway a walkover this weekend due to a load of Covid cases in the panel.
Would that be a first for a senior inter country championship match?
Kilkenny footballers prob did it once or twice
Connacht final is the following weekend as well so no real free weekend to play it.
Tipp footballers gave Fermanagh a walkover back in 04. It was over a round of hurling championship games being played a few days before their qualifier game.
Did they? Fermanagh ended up having a great year in 2004 after. Lost to Mayo in the AI Semi-Final after a replay!
Plenty of AIFs won on walkovers back in the day.
Sligo have no great incentive to go out anyway. They’ll be bate to death you’d imagine.
We won the Tommy Murphy the year after then.
Yeah ye beat Wexford in the Tommy Murphy Cup Final (Wexford had reached a Division 1 Final that spring and ran the dubs close in Leinster). Ye had a good team that time with Declan Browne obviously the star. Have vague childhood memories of Brendan Cummins playing outfield in the 2002 Munster football final for ye?
Yeah he played in Munster finals in 98 and 02. Usually at centre forward. He was decent and I’m fairly sure played railway cup as well. He’d be from the football end of the county and his Dad was involved with loads of football in the county. After 02 he picked a bad upper leg injury and gave up the county football. He still played a bit of club ball for years after but thats another story.
I recall him been a bit better than decent at the football
Gutless cunts
Galway Bay fm Sport understands that the Connacht SFC semi final between Galway and Sligo is OFF. A statement from the Sligo GAA county board is imminent but the game has been conceded so Galway are through to the Connacht final against either Mayo or Roscommon without kicking a ball.
It appears Sligo GAA felt a postponement of the game wasn’t an option as the infected players and those waiting on test results would still have been unavailable for a refixture.
Reports emerged yesterday of multiple cases of Covid 19 in the Sligo panel, with only 18 to 20 players allegedly available for Saturday’s game in Pearse Stadium. Seven positive cases have been confirmed, with test results awaited by several others from the Sligo squad in the next 24 hours.
Ah he was very good in a Tipp context, not at that level on a Kerry perspective. He had a great boot on him and could kick some great long range scores. He was also a good fielder and ball carrier. How good he was as a footballer was never really a debate as Browne was the main man.
He took the long range frees also. He used annoy me going for pot shots from fifty yards out with Browne inside. In hindsight his skillset is much more suited to the modern game.
You only need 15 ffs. See it out and take your beating
Very annoying, Galway needed the game
Three games to win an AI.
