But the delay of a year means the curse of September 26th has returned with a vengeance. That was the date when the US stormed the Belfry in 1993, and Tom Lehman called himself a man of God in 1999, as Ben Crenshaw’s team came back from the dead to inflict perhaps the most bitter European Ryder Cup defeat of all.
