To be honest, Mongomerie was a shocking tactician. He was a dreadful golfer who came to the fore in the Ryder Cup because it played to his little strengths. He was an embarrassment of man in truth. He fluked the win as you say, and in reality would be viewed akin to Faldo as European captain.
Be amazed if Harrington is not leaning heavily on Coach McGinleys experience
