There are a couple of stories about Cluxton and Parnells, the one I heard is that he was pissed off at all the mercenaries coming in and lads that grew up in the club not getting a look in that he said he was going to play with the lads he came up with.
I remember Na Fianna in the late 90/ early 2000’s having a few players in from Armagh. I remember playing against them and they had McKeever, Jayo and Dessie in the team.
It’s a weird dynamic in Parnells. I was at a funeral afters there a few years ago and went for a wander around the clubhouse. Place is covered in pictures of past teams etc but none of Cluxton until I found a very small one of him in the gym in an international rules jersey. Given he was Dublin captain and had just won four in a row, I found it very odd. I mentioned it to the guy at reception about the lack of pictures and he was very negative about Cluxton, so left it at that.
