This is why the group phase is the best part of tournaments.
Unreal game. Love get it in the mixer tactics
Red card for Bento
The quality of balls into the box were something else.
South Korea fuming that there’s no time for the corner, even though the ref played 10.5 minutes of second half injury time. Anthony Taylor shows Paulo Bento a red card.
I hope both these teams qualify.
A few Korean fans look to be bursting for a shit in the stand.
That bento is out of his box.
Kim Jin-Su and Lee Kang-In were absolutely whipping them in with the left foot. They really should have done more.
I thought todays early action would be a bit meh. Just shows when you have low expectations, they can be blown out of the water.
Kenny putting TOD in his box
That was heroic defending by Ghana, about 15 dangerous crosses whipped in during injury time and they dealt with each very well.
George Boateng enjoying the scenes on the pitch at full time. Some other Ghanaian backroom chap getting a selfie with a tearful Heung-Son Ming.
Fred for Neymar, just not the like-for-like I wanted.
There’s a bang of Anthony “Tessio” Cunningham off Paolo Bento.
Phenomenol whip and pace on the ball absolutely begging to be scored. It was an exhibition. No time for a keeper to come out and claim, just needing a glance or a steer towards goal. Haven’t seen as many good crosses since Beckham.
Great to hear Stephen Alkin’s dulcet tones on the Dunne’s Stores World Cup specials ad.
It was a throwback to football from 20 years ago. Like Beckham as @johnnysachs said. Nowadays it’s more lads trying to find pockets in between the lines and spaces between full back and centre back, more precise passing and goals from cut backs and stuff. But that was just whipping ball after ball into the box.
Whatever about the overall quality I can’t remember a better World Cup for headed goals. Been some absolutely cracking headers scored.
Cho’s two headed goals were superb.
