I thought Brazil were very impressive the last day and more attacking. I think Fred is a good player in his own right but I don’t see how he is a replacement for Neymar. That has to make it a more negative style of play. Paquetá presumably pushes up to 10 but I though he did very well in the deeper role the last day, and while he’s a very tidy footballer, he won’t come deep and dribble at players the way Neymar will. I was really hoping for Rodrygo to get the start.

They still have Vinícius and Raphinha to run at defenders but I’d have liked to see one more.

Also a centre-back in Militao replacing Danilo. Was looking forward to see a 39-year-old Dani Alves tbh.

I called over to the father and mother for the dinner at lunch there. The aul fella was fierce impressed with how the Japanese fellas we’re doing against Ghana. When I told him it was South Korea, he nodded and simply said ‘rocket man’.
