2022 FIFA World Cup (Part 1)

That Paqueta lad, ffsā€¦

Iā€™ve stayed in worse

Trippier ???

A lot of lads owe Darragh a fulsome apology

Except itā€™s not true.

The ESPN guy is a couple of years out of date, Iā€™m afraid. That wording was actually specifically removed from the rulebook.

Either way, it should not have been a penalty.

Youā€™re saying myself Darragh and dale owe the fulsome?

Dale seems very certain

Iā€™ve seen very little of the World Cup so far. Weā€™re two matches in and England are top of their group and in pole position to win it. Canā€™t ask for much more than that at such an early stage in the competition.

Heā€™s not exactly helping his case there by saying his opinion isnā€™t in the rulebook?

If itā€™s open to interpretation, then itā€™s the refereeā€™s decision to implement the rules as they are stated in the laws of the game.

The rule is the rule.

Theyā€™ve both been fine, wouldnā€™t say they were fantastic either. Thereā€™s been a lot of standout left-backs but most of the most impressive right-backs have only played one game.

I thought KoundƩ did well for France, Danilo did well for Brazil. Rezaeian was excellent for Iran. But they all only played once.

Johnston was good the first day for Canada but was hurt by Perisic. Widmer did alright against VinĆcius but committed 5 or 6 fouls. Hakimiā€™s fine but you expect more from probably the best in the competition, taking off both days (maybe had a knock?).

A bunch of lads talking about the team of the world cup so far and steadfastly refusing to mention the lad with 2 goals and 2 assistsā€¦ hmmmmmā€¦ youd wonder whyā€¦

Heā€™s been very good.

Although, I actually thought he was better the first day against Ghana than he was tonight despite scoring the two goals. Probably down to the nature of the game and Uruguay being defensive enough but I didnā€™t think we saw the best of him out on the right wing.

Hernandez for France has been the best full back on show since he came in. Heā€™s been magnificent. Trippier was good the first day but had a bad outing against USA, I think heā€™s been defensively solid saying that.

The Japanese goalie Gondo had a superb game against Germany. Probably won them the game. Ream has had a superb tournament for the USA at centre back.

Hernandez is left full

I know, I wasnā€™t picking a team I was listing who I thought was good outside of the pretty obvious/mentioned ones

throw in amrabat from morocco too.
