2022 FIFA World Cup (Part 1)

I think heā€™s the head off Clive Owenā€™s character in the Bourne Identity.

Iā€™m hoping that Cameroon do a Korea. Beat a Brazil B, Switzerland & Serbia draw, Cameroon go through on goals scored.

Permutations Man needs to ride one last time.

Luis Suarez would have been a good underage hurler in the mould of Diarmuid Connolly Iā€™d imagine. A lethal man with a hurl though youā€™d have to imagine.

All pundits in agreement that they were stonewall penalties

There is nothing to be done but to take this on the chin in our stoic fashion. We were beautiful tonight

The opinion of the pundits doesnā€™t really matter, bucko.

Who was tracking Hwangā€™s run at the end there? The Portuguese defender basically gave up. They had plenty of men back.

The last 16 is fucked

Piss off Tony

Time to focus on the serious teams now. Brazil v Cameroon 7pm

Tournament only starts in the last 8, few sideshows are a bit of craic up to then.

What did he do now?

Iā€™m surprised the Kosovo derby isnā€™t tonightā€™s main course on RTE. Itā€™s my main course anyway. Sorry Joey.

From some googling Alan Cawley was the co comms for the Ghana Uruguay game. Rte are broke. Picking up former part time soccer players for the box office fifa world cup

Yea but these things have a habit of continuingā€¦ well have a load of lads from the k league and the French second division playing in the quarters and thereā€™ll be no need to even open the BOX OFFICE

Tournament is done on multiple levels after today.

In 2002 and 2010 which had a lot of shocks early on, only South Korea in 2002 carried it on in the knockout stages.

The knockout stages in World Cups mostly go according to form and quality and tend to have few real shocks.

Russia beating Spain on penalties in 2018 was a shock but like Korea in 2002, they were a host nation.

In some senses itā€™s always a shock when Brazil lose, but they lost to good Dutch and Belgian teams in 2010 and 2018 and it shouldnā€™t have been any shock when France and Germany beat them in 2006 and 2014.

Greay to see guys slogging it out in lower professional leagues coming good on the big stage. Much better than playing in farmers leagues like LoI
