Cameroon are the side with the motive to go and win there too. We’ve seen how much of a factor that can be in Tunisia v France, South Korea v Portugal and even *Japan v Spain.

*Although Spain nearly got themselves in a spot of bother there too.

This is up there as one of the games of the competition, I feel like it will be very disappointing when teams start playing for penalties in the knockouts rather than really having a go here.

Golden goal theoretically makes it exciting but teams were still fairly conservative so it didn’t actually make a difference.

Don’t think there’s anything you can do really if a team decide they don’t want to play. Can’t really blame them either.

I think it was there for the 2002 World Cup as well. I have a memory of Senegal beating Sweden by virtue of golden goal in the round of 16. I can’t remember any of Euro 2000. It was a great tournament though I believe. An awful pity Ireland messed up qualification for it in Macedonia.
