Did someone say England could make the final? Had a good laugh at that.

Was duff the first to score a golden goal at some underage tournament for Ireland ?

Christ if you’re predicting they won’t make it they’re as good as there

A lot of things ‘could’ happen in this life oldfriend. Try not be so closed minded. You’ll miss a lot.

The group stages are normally very exciting. Then I forget nearly everything that happened in them whereas I can still remember everything that happened in every match in 1990 and 1994.

10 World Cups would imply you watched Mexico '86. That was the last great World Cup. This is unlikely to come close to matching it overall unless Messi wins it and does something special in winning it.

But yes I think this is probably the best group stage I remember because every group has had qualification at stake right to the end.

The knockout stages ultimately determine how a tournament is remembered though.

1994 would have bene remembered as a great tournament if it had had a great final. But it had a terrible final.

The knockout stages of 1998 are underrated. It was high quality and a succession of big guns coming up against each other.

1990 was the last genuinely iconic World Cup. Everything came together except the football.

GOAL for the Swiss! Fuck the filthy Serbs.

What a goal!

It still says Serbia lead 3-2 on the RTE scoreboard😂

FIFA graphics have given that goal to Serbia. Looked more like a Swiss goal to me.

Ah lads that was unreal

I suppose the alarm bells should have rung about the Serbian defence given they conceded three goals to Ireland over two games.

They’ve now conceded eight goals in this group.

Lovely flick to set it up.

I can guarantee you England wont make the final.

Post bookmarked.

How did RTE show the Brazil game on Rte 2. Nuts decision.

Means that Cameroon would need 2 even if Serbia equalise.
