There was lovely needle in that game. Iconic scenes when the entire crew of Netherlands subs burst onto the pitch to confront Paredes. I was a few pints deep at that stage and had to check that it actually did happen it was so remarkable at the time.

The theme of this world cup has been subs acting the cunt. Either running on celebrating, dancing or burying lads. There were more subs booked last night than players Iâd say

I think itâs more important that itâs a very balanced and open tournament. You wouldnât mind a slight dip in standard if the tournament was packed full of memorable games this one. This is much more enjoyable than the 2014 quarter-finals for instance. We were treated to borefests between Holland and Costa Rica, Germany and France and Argentina and Belgium back then.
