The Italian and US (when sung properly) anthems are the best mate
In World Rugby? Okay
The Argentine one would be hard bet.
Jaysus he didnāt explain it v well.
I couldnāt cheer for the Welsh regardless. A horrible shower
Is it the fans or the players you donāt like?
Thanks Fagan. I thought that was fairly clear.
No issue with the players really wouldnāt be a fan of Welsh rugby or the fans.
Twas in fairness. You mentioned the world cup, hurling, Galway, tipp and the all blacksā¦ With the obligatory reference to Limerickās hurling successā¦ All in an effort to make a point about the rte commentators cheering for Wales against France
Why is that?
Iv spent a lot of time in Wales. Donāt think there is much to the Welsh.
In rugby terms their club game is an absolute shambles at pro level and they like to blame everyone else for it. I think they are on the cusp of falling into serious disrepair in rugby terms and they donāt appear willing to do anything about it
Scottish and Welsh national anthems very hard done by there.
Irelandās Call way too high.
The Welsh anthem in Cardiff is in a league of its own.
I know it, you know, we all know it.
Land Of Our Fathers before England in Cardiff is the number one anthem to see and hear in the world, anywhere.
The Italian anthem before a football World Cup semi-final, say against Germany in Dortmund, is one of the only other anthems youād go out of your way to see and hear.
The French anthem suffers due to ubiquity. Itās the Wonderwall of national anthems.
The German anthem is underrated, probably due to the association of its tune with Hitler, the Holocaust, the Nazis invading most of Europe, and that kind of stuff.
Gerry Thornley nails his colours to the mast and predicts a win for the team of us
I love the earthiness of Welsh rugby. A floating sports fan who does not have a soft spot for Welsh rugby has no soul.
BBC2 are showing a series about Welsh rugby called āSlammedā, which I chanced upon after Newsnight on Thursday night, the episode shown the other night was about Mike Ruddock and the 2005 Grand Slam. It was a wonderful watch and Iām definitely tuning in again next week. The late, great Ray Gravell played a prominent walk on part in his then role as S4Cās rugby reporter. What a giant, what a man, in every way.
Iām an absolute sucker for admiring, well meaning yet twee depictions of the Valleys and its people being inserted into sports documentaries.
I really wanted Wales to beat France last night, even though I like France.
The Welch fans are an unlikeable lot. I like the players. Iād shout for them Vs England. Iād always shout for Scotland. Iād shout for France against everyone apart from Scotland. Iād shout for Ireland against England and Wales.
Italy I have no interest in. Iād shout for them against England, otherwise no interest.

Gstq I cannot be within earshot of. I viscerally hate it.
Have wales a national anthem?
Itās epic in Cardiff with a full choir.
God Save the Queen?
