The 2000 semi final defeat to Offaly was one of the toughest defeats we’ve taken, in fairness
When the going got tough this summer, Cork did not get going…
Cork are moving in the right direction. They fought back from large deficits and were unlucky to get only one point in total from the games v Tipp, Clare and Limerick. Against Limerick their shooting accuracy in the first half was elite. The U20s coming through have a nice bit of cut to them too. They were willing to decapitate Screeney to shut him down.
There was more of a focus on the league this year which apparently the players wanted. I reckon next year the league might take a back seat and we might be better prepared for Munster. We got lucky in Munster this year.
Well they were slightly unlucky to have Clare and Limerick away in the round robin too.
A long and hard think will do nothing medium term. Other teams unfortunately need to go kinnerk, and identify underage players based predominantly upon size, athleticism, aggression and dedication, and worry about hurling skills after.
They love their hurling down on Leeside
Home advantage doesn’t seem to play much of a factor in the round robin since it came in.
I’m not so sure on that because they’d Waterford in cork. I’d much prefer Limerick or Clare in cork and play Waterford in Thurles if I was them.
They also played Clare when Clare needed a win to qualify and likewise played Limerick when they needed a win to qualify.
Just a small bit unlucky with the scheduling this year.
Cork are set to to have 2 games in Cork and two at home in Thurles next year, so that’s a boost.
A lot of cut to the 20s but they’re too young and slim yet. They improved a lot of things they needed to this year but have a long way to go. The game at home to Limerick in the Páirc will be enormous for Cork hurling
100 percent. Lads greatly underestimate the physical condition needed to play senior intercounty today.
Limerick got pinged against Cork at the TUSGG for the type of physicality they got away with against Galway (second half) and Kilkenny. As robust as the Munster Championship was at times, in Croke Park, in NFL parlance, you have playoff refereeing so the physicality is upped.
The silly season has started already
Duignan sighing on commentary duties when the KK player slipped in the second said it all for me
It was so enjoyable. Arse of the highest order
Maybe thats because the likes of kilkenny and Galway dont go down like extras in a die hard movie unlike the other 4 teams in Munster
That looks an absolute mile better craic than the dub celebrations. Great aul unique tune being belted out by urbane lads with their tongues firmly in cheek and a few proper roasters absolutely locked. The posh dubs were doing it all for the camera with the coronas and kodaline
The Dub celebrations clip had some chap with bleached blonde hair covering Mumford & Sons.
Contrary to my post the other day, defund Dublin GAA.
Eanna Murphy would say hello to this.
