Building your team around an aging, pampered donkey wouldnât be a great strategy youâd have to say.
I think this scoreline drops Mayo to 3rd place.
Kidare v Mayo in Newbridge looks nailed on.
Mayo are a shark out there now - youâd be terrified to get them
Great to see Cork football going well
Serious Corkâness off this interview
The Connacht counties put too much focus on the league.
Kevin Walshâs hoodoo over Mayo continues.
Mayo were caught there by the same dynamic that effectively ended Galwayâs season in 2018. They went into the final game already qualified against an unqualified opponent, and coasted through the game. They thought there was nothing at stake. But there was something at stake.
Galwayâs defeat to Monaghan in 2018 meant they played Dublin rather than Tyrone in the semi-final, and that was the end of their season.
Roscommon were caught out by Kildare today in a similar fashion.
Galway hurlers against Dublin in 2019 too.
Itâll be interesting to see how Galway deal with this dynamic against Armagh. Theyâre already through, but their All-Ireland hopes to a large extent rest on winning today. But the consequences of losing arenât fatal. Thatâs a recipe for an Armagh win. If Galway win today, theyâll win the All-Ireland.
Up to Galway to save Connacht now.
Same as it ever was
Is Newbridge not undergoing repairs? They speculated on the radio there that Kildare might choose Tullamore as their âhomeâ venue. Kildare are a complete enigma this season (as always).
Tullamore or nowhere.
A pity if it is.
Mayo are useless at home anyway it will probably suit them.
Newbridge is a bigger shithole than normal
Group winners:
Kerry, Dublin, Derry
2nd place:
Cork, Kildare, Donegal
3rd place
Mayo, Roscommon, Monaghan
Itâs been a bad day for Connacht football so far. Defeats for Mayo, Roscommon and a walloping for Sligo.
Galway hurlers against Dublin in 2019 too.
Galway were at risk that day anyway. A draw in the other match was always a possibility.
Theyâll be handpassing over it any minute now

Galway were at risk that day anyway. A draw in the other match was always a possibility.
They knew that, but they didnât really think it would happen. The same dynamic that almost did for Tipperary the other week. Psychology is mad. That mental safety net takes the edge off players.
Enjoyable Super Sunday so far.
