Good start for Sligo.
In GAA, teams traditionally would only change colours over the bodies of dead relatives from the Civil War.
Kerry v Mayo, no colour change. Kerry v Limerick, no colour change. Cork v Galway, no colour change.
Young, idealistic, modern, progressive zealots like myself would rail against this refusal to change colours as a vestige of backward, De Valera Ireland.
Now, teams change colours all the time.
Today Galway are wearing white shirts and maroon shorts while Sligo are wearing black shirts and shorts. The maroon was apparently deemed to be too similar to the black.
Cork v Galway is now deemed a clash. Galway v Wexford is now deemed a clash. Kerry v Mayo is now deemed a clash. Kerry v Limerick is now deemed a clash.
This is what young, idealistic zealots like myself fought for.
And now that we achieved this, we hate it.
Bring back the clashes of colours.

The division 1 team looks to have too much for the division 4 team
Armagh used to have a great oul’ excuse for tackles like that one there committed by the Sligo lad, which was a full force slap to the head of Galway’s Sean Kelly.

A poor Connacht final, the difference in class was always going to manifest itself. You would have to be somewhat fearful for Sligo going forward - Dublin the likely 1st opponents in the next phase.
The 14 point trimming today is likely to be replicated in the group stages and does nothing for morale.

They should have put Kerry vs Clare on gaa go to save the world from listening to Morrissey and Fitzmaurice.
