Surely the Gaa needs to move these games to smaller venues. Killdangan v Clonara should have been in Nenagh. Na Pairsaigh v Ballygunner in Kilmalock. Would make for much better games.
What would the pitch be like in Kilmallock? The pitch in the Gaelic grounds today looked like with was very good for this time of year.
Itās not about the stands, itās about the surface pal
A sweet enough victory grasped from the jaws of defeat. On the balance of play Clon were probably 4 or 5 points the better side but Kiladangan showed excellent economy in that first half, hardly hitting a wide and a excellent catch leading to the goal gave them a foothold when it looked like the games was slipping away - it rattled Clon and it took them 10 minutes to regain their composure.
The Tipp champs certainly wanted to up the physical stakes in the second half but it was to their detriment. The last two scores from two chaps were excellent scores given the circumstances.
Thought Fitzgerald at wing back was excellent while JC was JC
Iām sure if they pumped a few quid into the pitch it would be fine.
Another gaa white elephant
According to my sources on the ground, Feargal is planning on giving us an exceedingly attractive double header at HQ on Saturday December 16th.
BG would be favourites but Toms should have beaten Ballyhale a couple years ago. Flopped against Dunloy then last year. Definitely capable of getting a result on the right day. They have a few players back this year that were out injured last year.
Not great. Over used.
Does every team from underage to senior train and play on the one pitch? Do ye have anything else?

They couldnāt play it on the Saturday last year of course.
Just the patch of grass behind the goal at the Millmount end. There was a proposal in Celtic Tiger times to sell up and move to a new site. But thatās a long story.
Obvious reason why it canāt be on the 17th
Liverpool v Man United? The 2020 All-Ireland club finals clashed with that game in January of that year. The day Kilcoo and Corofin had the row in the tunnel.
The Hogan Stand shook to its very foundations that day when Kilcoo equalised and it all kicked off.
Iād prefer a Sunday double header myself. 1.30pm and 3.30pm throw in times.
Football semi-finals on the Sunday? Are Glen and Crokes on a collision course for a semi-final or final? Iād imagine the football semi-finals will be the more enticing this year when you consider that Corofin should be back in the mix.
No the Football Semi finals will be on Sunday January 7th.
Iām assuming the work being done in the Cusack wonāt affect things but its far from optimum that a Glen v Kilmacud Blockbuster Semi Final would be taking place in a building site.
That match in the Gaelic Grounds was closer to a Rugby match than a Hurling match unfortunately. Real RIP Hurling stuff. Ballygunner were poor enough yet still totally in control for most of it. The younger Mahonyās and Fitzgerald didnāt score from play and barely got a shot away.
Peter Hogan didnāt score either but he was their main man in my opinion tearing into everything.
Their backs were excellent though and any lack of pace they have, they are well able to hide it. Getting a shot away against them from play is tough going.
Na Piarsaigh didnt raise too much of a gallop at all.
Kiladangan despite everything really should have seen their game out. A pity for them but its a tough lesson. Unfortunately for them it was a natural defender in Darren Moran who had a late shot to go two up when theyād have preferred that chance to fall to almost anyone else. I thought Barry Hogan could have helped the situation by hitting the sideline with some late puckouts which could have ensured they got ET and back to 15 players at the very least.
Conlon was phenomenal for Clonlara and is one the all time greats. His celebration at the end was probably a bit over the top though.
Cushendall blew Portaferry away in extra time winning by 12. Was a classic of the genre, the underdog had the favourite by the throat in normal time but didnt finish them off. Apparently 4 points up in injury time 2 Ports players ran into each other, Cushendall player nipped in and got a point. Then a minute later a Portaferry back had an easy lift and chance for a clearance. He fluffed the lift, Cushendall got a 20m free out of it and McManus pinged one into the ground and it ended up in the net.
Saw the McManus free on Twitter. As you say, he struck it into the ground & not that cleanly either. It probably should have been saved.
