Offaly won 94?
Yes you’re right
Scratch that
What was up with Armagh in the last minutes of normal time playing across the pitch to each other, over and back, nobody wanting to go for a winning point.
1987: Tipp v Antrim (16 years) & Meath v Cork (14 years) must be up there for the longest gaps of new finalists.
Tipp Antrim 1989
Ffs, that’s a no go so.
They were trying to run down the clock to make sure Kerry wouldn’t have a chance to get one back. They made some bollox of it though. That Nugent had a fucking mare
They were wanting to run the clock right down so they would get the last shot off in the last seconds of injury time & Kerry wouldn’t have time to score again if Armagh scored to go ahead.
That’s a good one. Good for the game anyway. New winners is always good.
Hopefully with the Dubs rebuilding and Kerry a bit meh there’ll be a 90s/00s style era where we get a few new names on the cup.
Typical Mayo to be absolutely shit when the championship falls apart and is there for anyone.
awful to watch.
Don’t think it ever happened
I think Armagh knew well they had them there at the end of normal time but wanted the comfort of extra time to do the job in a more secure way. I think they were wary of a reffing thing closing them tbh. In fairness to @myboyblue he said Kerry were cat bar the two Clifford’s all year
RoryGallagher-ball
For the one he blasted wide, David Clifford was on TO’S shoulder. He even looked over and saw him there as they were breaking forward, but stayed running anyway and got in the way. That was the winning and losing of the game.
Ya even as it was he could have spooned it out to him for Clifford to cut back across and roll it in
Seanie fucking sideswipe then as well and the game in the melting pot. Not even remotely on
Geeneyball
Clifford and Seanie missed 2 of the 3 shots of the first half of ET, the two men you want on ball.
The other was Jason Foley, the last lad you want on ball (yet bizarrely he kept trying to get on the final ball).
