He did of course but he clearly wasn’t serious about management because he already had a smash hit media career which was his main gig, and took the worst basket case managerial job imaginable as a favour to a a business partner, and probably as a thought experiment, just for the hell of it. Valencia probably seemed like a nice place to live for five months, and it is.
Had he decided immediately after he finished playing that he was serious about getting into management, I think he had the intellectual and personality tools necessary to do it.
But he didn’t choose that path.
