I don’t doubt it, which is why I mentioned Gullis. I think Paul Breitner once referenced that Gerd Muller was thick as shit, which was a major advantage for him as a striker - he never thought about things. You don’t want to think about things too much in darts.
I never thought Chris Dobey was a certainty even at 4-0 up today because he’s not a thicko and he thinks about things and despite having massive scoring power he’s shown that he tends to fluctuate in games, whereas Rob Cross has those cold, dead eyes of a shark that are so important in pressure match play.
Van Gerwen can overthink things too when he’s not firing on everything. First leg here an example. Williams will lose this not because of nerves, but because he’s not good enough to beat Van Gerwen over 9 sets.
