2025 All Ireland Football Championship

I do not recall a meeting.

We have never played the aristocrats of Ulster football in the backdoor era, afaik.

That’s what I thought. I couldn’t recall a Down v Galway clash either.

Sunday will be the first meeting since 1971

They played out a cracker of an U21 final in 2005 but I was struggling to think of a senior championship meeting so that makes sense.

Conor Laverty scored 1-2 for Down that day

The terrible twins Meehan and Armstrong scored 6-5 between them that day wasn’t it?

I heard Sean Armstrong’s name a few weeks back. I had forgotten that he existed.

A victim of puke football

I had something similar yesterday. Whatever happened to him

Must have been bad football to go to them lengths

Stand tickets for Newry sold-out 20 minutes after going on sale, football purists from all over the country travelling for this one. It’s Division 3 football and almost certainly Tailteann Cup for Down next season which will fairly kill the momentum gained these past few weeks.

Hamstrings were always at him from memory. Retired from intercounty at 28 I think. Played on for a few years with Salthill. Himself and Meehan were both basically done at intercounty at 27/28 ish through injury. Although Meehan made a comeback he was never the same player.

Army had a solid run as impact sub in 2018. Turned the Connacht Final against the Rossies.

Completely slipped my mind that he came back for a spell.

Think he was/is involved with Finian Hanley managing Salthill.

Ya he’s been a selector since 2021 I think.

A shame. Meehan was unreal. That day he played Kerry on his own in the rain was phenomenal.
