2025 All Ireland Football Championship

Il put them on the tracker. Iv chanced Muldoons and Boylans in Ardee but neither were exactly what I was after. The Dolly Parton tribute act probably edges it for Muldoons if I ever need stop there again.

Drogheda and Dundalk both garrison towns
Soccer dominates

It’s an often used cliche that a successful period will inspire the next generation but rarely seems to ring true. Certainly in terms of All-Ireland success anyway. The Limerick players who went on to win a 4 in a row would’ve known nothing but the doldrums growing up supporting their county in those formative years. The vast majority would’ve first started playing hurling in the era between 2001-2007 where they went 6 years without winning a Munster championship game. (Most of those lads were born in the mid-90’s).

The same logic can be applied to Wexford who failed to build on the inspirational success of 1996 and glimmers of success only started to flicker with the Leinster title success in 2019 powered by a group who were toddlers in 96’ with no recollection of it. On a similar theme the children who grew up supporting Kilkenny in their glory period of 2000-2015 have presided over a 10 year famine which is very reminiscent of what happened when the Kerry backers of the 1975-1986 period filtered through at adult level and failed to win an All-Ireland again until 1997. If the history of the GAA has taught us anything, it’s that watching your team enjoy success as a child tends to have no evident benefit to future prospects of success.

The class of 93’ in Dublin would’ve grown up watching a chaotic team who endured a 16 year wait for an All-Ireland appearance even.

A man @ work who is really more of a soccer man, was filling me in a few years back on the amount of GAA clubs in Dundalk, I was surprised that there was so many

He said some of them were very weak and perhaps amalgamations\consolidations were necessary

I m thinking of tipping to Croke Park meself to be honest, now must check first what Munster Hurling is on that day!

No Munster hurling that day. Clare v Tipp the night before. A clear run at the day.

I m liking the way that this is lining up

2025 All-Ireland SFC draw

Group 1: Ulster winner, Connacht runner-up, Tyrone, Cavan

Group 2: Munster winner, Leinster runner-up, Roscommon, Cork

Group 3: Leinster winner, Munster runner-up, Monaghan, Down

Group 4: Connacht winner, Ulster runner-up, Dublin, Derry

Group 4 is some group of death

GROUP OF DEATH!!!

Group 3 is the Group of Life.

Down will fancy sailing into the quarter-finals as a seeded team.

I can’t see much difference in the upside for the winners/losers of the Connacht final there

Group of death:
May 17/18:
Galway v Dublin at Salthill
Armagh v Derry at Armagh

June 1/2
Derry v Galway at Derry
Dublin v Armagh at Croke Park

June 14/15
Galway v Armagh at ? (Carrick On Shannon/Mullingar/Tullamore)
Dublin v Derry at ? (Clones or Cavan)

Kerry v Cork again. This time it’s personal.

Kerry will bate the bollox off them

No difference at all really, neither Cavan or Derry likely to raise a gallop, no difference between Donegal and Armagh, and then it’s either Dubs or Tyrone. Kerry will be happiest of all.

Ah I would say Derry are significantly better than Cavan.

Another crack off Kerry, we’ll take that

Galway are destined to be bested by Armagh in group stages forever (or until the format changes)

They seem to have zero interest in playing for Paddy Tally, Cavan at least have a bit of spirit about them.
