2026 All Ireland Football Championship

This would be a head scratcher for the anti split season zealots. They hate the current system but they also hate change.

Why not four tiers?

It’s a much better system, every game means something. Not easy to create a system in the AI series that will please even most people. Groups sound good in theory but they had a lot of unimportant games.

This shit about down deserving to be there because they beat Donegal too is ridiculous.

Laois beat Offaly, we deserve to be there too.

Donegal should be in the Tampax Cup because they lost to Down.

Kerry should be in the Tazdedub Cup because they were slaughtered by Donegal.

There is no group stages.

It’s been obvious for years that the MUFFINS in the GAA are actively out to ruin their own championship.

Here’s some more manufacturing consent client journalism by Sean Moran today.

Ciaran Murph Murphy’s idea is of running the provincial championships similar to a cup competition with rounds interspersed between the All Ireland proper rounds.

That would be better than its current location pre All Ireland competition.

No it twud not. In fact that would be so obviously yet another deliberate way to undermine the provincial championships that it barely needs to be said. The insulting of intelligence is the point. He should have just said Carabao.

Murph has gotten the memo. The GAA strategy is to continually find new ways to deliberately devalue the provincial championships. Making the draw before the provincial finals and giving no advantage at all to the winners of the provincial finals was a conscious decision to undermine the provincial championships.

This strategy is a well worn playbook from the Tories in Britian, where your ultimate aim is to destroy something of value like the BBC or NHS. So you undermine the BBC or the NHS. You put your own cronies in there and steadily erode funding or make decisions you know won’t work for the benefit of the institution. You have your propaganda campaigns against the BBC and the NHS. Everything you do is designed to make these institutions seem dysfunctional, failing and corrupt, so that they appear of less value, and become unpopular with the public. Then eventually you get public support to abolish them.

“Murph” has become the archetypal GAA company man. He has become Mr. Official GAA. He’s become one of those generic, po-faced doyens of GAA media we used to see in the 1970s and 1980s writing in Gaelic Sport and Gaelic World and presenting Gaelic Stadium, just updated for the social media age. Murph is a licensee of the Mr. Gael franchise.

Second Captains have two new pundits this year, who are Joe Canning and Dara O’Cinneide. These were obviously brought on board at the invitation and suggestion of “Murph”. Now obviously these two fellas were fine players who seem to be lovely, wholesome fellas and they’d pass the son-in law test for any mother. But Jesus effin christ they’d put you to sleep quicker than trying to come up with 50 names of people with the initials GA. That sums up the “Murph” ideology now. It’s all about empty corporate communication on the behalf of the MUFFINS.

Wexford before the round robin system too. Laois are still using it for their football championships. It’s a more exciting system than the groups (2023-2025). Either win 2 from 3 via a route through the winners section or win two on the trot having lost the first. Otherwise you’re not in a quarter-final. It’s relatively cut-throat.
