He’s 25s for a reason. Will have to beat Anderson tonight then likely to meet Rock in QF. Then looking like the winner of Humphries / Van Veen in the Semi Final. And that’s before he more than likely meets Littler in the final as the other side of the draw isn’t exactly stacked.
Searle is 6-4 ahead on head to heads v Humphries, and 6-3 behind on head to heads v Littler (however Littler has won their last five meetings and you’d have to go back to 2023 for the last time Searle beat him, when Littler was 16yr old).
Head to heads between Littler and Humphries has Littler 16-11 ahead. Humphries has beaten him four times in 2025 albeit from 12 meetings.
I think Littler will implode in his head and fail to win this championship.
I think Andersons A game is good enough to trouble him but there’s a long road for him to get to the final. There could be stamina concerns.
I wouldn’t read too much into those H2H stats between Searle and Humphries. All those meetings are short format. Humphries clipped him 10-0 in the UK open back in March.
On March 22nd, 2013 at about 3pm I was having a smoke outside a pub in Central Stockholm. It was about -1 degrees celsius and I was stomping on the spot despite wearing four layers including a big Afghan coat and leggings underneath me jeans. A Swedish fella of about 45 with a big baldy head comes out to have a smoke and he’s wearing only a short sleeved Sweden jersey. I start talking to him and I ask him is he not a bit cold wearing just the jersey.
“Ahhh, noooo. You see you forget, we are VIKINGS!”
I now imagine this person as Andreas Harrysson, despite the fact that it was not.
