A Fresh Discussion on the merits of Zlatan, with particular regard to his effectiveness in the EPL in 2016/17

He was the main man at the majority of those clubs and success followed everywhere.

His ability to avoid European honours was uncanny.

Itā€™s about the only thing he didnā€™t win in his career. The CL has been devalued a lot in recent years.

He avoided the Europa League win too. His departure coincides with immediate improvement wherever heā€™s been.

Milan havenā€™t won a title since he left, they hadnā€™t won one for 7 years before he joined but he guided them to one in his first season there.

Inter hadnā€™t won a title for 27 years before he joined, they won 2 in a row with him leading the charge.

Ajax were 4 years without a title before he arrived, they won 2 in 3 years with him, they then went 7 years without a title when he left.

PSG had not won a title in 19 years before he arrived, they won 4 in a row with him leading the side. They lost next title directly after he left.

Youā€™re talking out of your hole.

Champions league is a farce nowadays. Last season two teams that have each gone 25 plus years without winning their own league contested the final.

Itā€™s a joke in fairness, seriously devalued these days.

Think Golden Boot Harry might have scored against Sheffield United in one of his early career loan spells at Leyton Orient or Millwall.

You think?

Mickey Mouse League. Are Inter the last Italian team to win it, coincidentally the year after Zlatan headed off.

Youā€™re backtracking.

Iā€™d never second guess @Matty_Hislop when it to Tottenham Hotspur related matters. Heā€™s the doyen here when it comes to Spurs related trivia. If he says Golden Boot Harry has scored against every club he has faced in the league, thatā€™s good enough for me.

Fanta Pants backtracked straight away.

Itā€™s correct

You said he scored against every single team in the league. I donā€™t see Sheffield United on that list.

Sheffield United havenā€™t played in the league while Harry Kane has been a professional footballer. The last time they were in the league was 2007.

The stat will be wrong when Kane plays against Sheffield United and fails to score.

Thatā€™s cleared that up anyway. Your man should just focus on the Mickey Mouse Serie A and stop making an eejit out of himself.

Zlatanā€™s career = 1999-present.
Champions League wins by clubs Zlatan has played for since 1999 = 9 (nine)
Champions League won by Zlatan = 0 (Zero)

An incredible ability to avoid winning major trophies.

Ronaldo never won the CL and played for Barca, Real, Inter and Milan who won 7 in his time in Europe.

Ronaldo is the GOAT. Neither did Diego win one.

Zlatan has won no major trophies. He was a hanger-on for a few domestic leagues and his teamā€™s European performances improved immeasurably once he departed. The facts are the facts. Inter Milan won the Champions League because he left. He must have been fuming when Inter knocked out Barce that time. Probably blamed the ref or something.
