Agreed, I wouldn’t be surprised if they topped the group

They specifically target their friendly matches in order to climb the rankings apparently, bro. They’re shit really.

The Swiss are shit and won’t qualify. I actually think Honduras will get a result against them in some jungle climate place. France and Ecuador to qualify, pal. cc @Mac.

I’ve drawn both Honduras and Equador in the office sweep stake so I’ll be cheering both on against the surrender monkeys and the toblerone eaters

You haven’t a clue. This is a decent Swiss side and a number of their players would have gotten to the finals of the European under 21 championships in 2011. They have two solid and energetic full backs and in the likes of Inler and Berhami they have two good central midfielders who will protect the back 4. Add to that the likes of Xhaka and Shaqiri for creativity and the Stocker on the wing for industry and it is a well balanced side with an experienced and wiley manager. The lack of a quality goalscorer might see them bow out against a top side but they will have more than enough to get out of the group, even if some of the games are played in the jungle

Pal, Philippe Senderos and Johan Djourou are two of their defensive options.

Good chance they won’t start. As well you know in tournament football a defence is abotu organisation and not about individuals. We have seen many, many examples where defenders have played above themselves at World Cups and Hitzfeld has this Swiss defence well organised. They didn’t conced much in qualifying and with two Full backs who have the pace to cover and with Inler and Behrami sitting ahead of them and be it Benaglio or Sommer in goal they will be fairly well protected

I think it’s a tough group and Ecuador and France will go through, not that Switzerland are a poor team.

That is fair enough. Disappointed to see @Bandage dismiss the Swiss out of hand as he has done

I think @Bandage and @chewy louie need to put their e-reputations on the line here. Loser walks (changes username)

@Bandage hasn’t got the bottle for it

cat got your tongue bandage?

Lets be having you, @Bandage

mac and bandage are very sheepish these days

Yes.

Come on @Bandage you windy cunt! http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/fighting/fighting0087.gif

@North County Corncrake and @chewy louie - what chance do you give Greece of getting out of their group? Wouldn’t have thought that the Ivory Coast or Japan would be much better than them?
