Israeli defence minister Gallant says next phase of the war will begin soon
The next phase of the war along the southern border of Lebanon is set to begin shortly, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has said, as at least two US newspapers reported that special forces may have already made short incursions.
“The next stage in the war against Hezbollah will begin soon,” Mr Gallant told a meeting of local council heads in northern Israel, according to a statement from his office.
He said the next phase would contribute to achieving the war aim of returning residents evacuated from the area to their homes.
He said ground forces could be used against Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, adding that military operations will go on despite the killing of the group’s leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Mr Gallant made the comments while speaking to Israeli troops deployed to the northern border.
“We will use all the means that may be required - your forces, other forces, from the air, from the sea, and on land,” Mr Gallant said.
“The elimination of Nasrallah is an important step, but it is not the final one”.
Hezbollah’s deputy leader Naim Qassem said they were ready to face any Israeli ground operation and warned that the battle could last a long time.

You’d imagine the Israelis were expecting this and prepared for it. It’ll either be reported that there’s mass casualties (even if there’s not) so they can go and blast the fuck out of Lebanon, or they’ll report that their defence systems limited the damage to irk the shite out of Iran and then they’ll respond by blasting the fuck out of Beirut
There’s no explosions when they land though. I’m going to say that they’ve all hit fuck all and ones going to hit the city were shot down
