I take my opinion on the Great Famine not being genocide from the scholarly consensus, not over emotional faux historical bluster.
Iāve said numerous times I favour a Bosnia style federal plan with full rights for the minority ethnic group/s within each federal state. Thatās the only remotely feasible and just plan as far as I can see.
The scholarly consensus is the scale of death was due to neglect, and as you claim laissez-faire economics, rather than intent. In other words, better to let the poor starve than making them lazy by giving them handouts. If that is true, why were the poor on the mainland given help and handouts to the extend they suffered no deaths?
A two state solution? I agree. Do you not see the fear that Jews have of living in a Muslim majority state, given there isnāt one such state in the region remotely democratic or accepting of religious freedom? Do you think a Palestinian state for example run by Hamas would be as democratic and secular in comparison to Israel of today? Not that Israel is a bastion of democracy, but itās a damn sight closer than itās neighbors. Iād love to think itās possible, but the evidence suggests otherwise.
Bosnia-Herzegovina is one state with two federal republics contained therein.
Your stance is effectively that the Palestinian people are animals. Thatās sort of a stumbling block to further discussion.
The poor in this country were given help and handouts too.
Sorry, but I defer to actual scholars like Professor Liam Kennedy on this, not rabble rousers like Tim Pat Coogan.
There you go again, lapsing into insult when challenged. My stance is the only future for the region is an embrace of secularism and democracy. Would love to see it happen.
I didnāt insult you. I merely stated the reality of your position.
My position is long term peace in the region will only happen when religion is not a factor in governance. Israel is a fair way down that road, compared to itās neighbors. In fact it would be a good first step for Arab states in the region to at least adopt the level of democracy and secularism Israel has.
In your strange reality you interpret that as regarding Palestinians as animals.
You keep referring to other Arab states as if theyāre somehow relevant here. They arenāt.
Sure religion is the raison dāetre of the state of Israel.
The federal one state, two republic plan Iāve consistently proposed is classed by Israeli ideology, as anti-Semitic.
Your statement that ālong term peace in the region will only happen when religion is not a factor in governanceā is, according to Israeli logic, anti-Semitic.
Thatās how ludicrous things have got.
I say you class the Palestinians as animals because itās quite clear to me you do. You donāt believe Israelis and Palestinians can co-exist on reasonably equal terms in a one state, two federal republic situation. I know this because you constantly state that Palestine wants to genocide Israel out of existence.
While you consistently overlook the many decades of Israeli oppression which is destroying any hope of a Palestinian state, whether fully independent or federal within a one state plan.
I think you missed the bit about apartheid that got this thread bumped in the first place.
By the way Iām pretty sure some people said āwould you rather live in white ruled South Africa or states ruled by blacks?ā in the 1980s.
Supporting Israel
Israel in the present
Ssssshhh, Haaretz is an anti-Semitic ragā¦ I think.
Maybe if we entertain any criticism of the Israeli state, even if only a passing thought, we should declare ourselves to be anti-semitic and present ourselves at the prison (concentration camp) gates.
Israel is a racist, apartheid state.
Any point in bumping this thread? Any point at all? We sort of know how any discussion would go.
Twill be grand . We have Sleepy Joe in the White House and his left wing credentials ( good Mick stock , loves the Ra etc ) will sort the Zionists .
Off to bed with you kid and twill be sorted by the morning .
Not sure why youād think that, sort of shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the situation.
