I nearly got sick watching it.
Alan Shatter was on the Virgin Media nightly news show.
His take on things:
- Hamas has been goading Israel for many years with airstrikes and the attack on October 7th was a declaration of war.
- Israel have gone to war with Hamas. Hamasâs tunnels have meant that there are many civilian casualties.
- Hamas have also been active in the war firing back at Israel.
- Hamas could have stopped the war at any point if the hostages were released.
- Israel have not committed genocide only have engaged in a war which Hamas started and Hamas have refused to end.
It is a terrible pity that Chris Andrews was the person tasked with debating it. Very inarticulate.

He keeps repeating this although itâs an outright lie. An agreement on release was reached, Israel broke it. Hamas signed up to a second cease-fire proposal including release and Israel wouldnât accept. Israel stated at numerous points they wouldnât stop until all their aims were achieved.
Everything else he says is a lie.
