A new low for the GAA #14587

A club player in Kerry has been handed a 96-week suspension.

Killarney Legion footballer Damien O’Sullivan was handed the suspension for a Category VI offence of striking or attempting to strike referee Dermot Hughes.

The incident occurred during a County SFL Division One game between Legion and Milltown/Castlemaine on July 16th.

O’Sullivan has accepted the suspension even though the infraction occurs a minimum of a 48-week ban.

However the CCCC have proposed the 96-week suspension and although O’Sullivan had the option of an appeal to the Hearings Committee, he has decided to accept his fate.

O’Sullivan was issued a black card during the match but an incident occurred then according to the Kerryman.

Having transferred from Spa to Legion three years ago, O’Sullivan was an integral part of the Killarney side’s defence as the reached last year’s county SFC final.

Cute Kerry Animal.

Great to see a sportsman with a bit of passion and fight in him, pity there aren’t more like him, the standard of refereeing might rise if there were.
